The week went by seemingly quickly, you and Spock grew close and he even helped you with your assignments from the King. Your feelings for him grew and you were certain his did too. You would visit the library often and read so many stories despite having to go over multiple paragraphs multiple times due to your inability to focus. Everything was going well- that was until your father showed up. He burst into the castle with an angry aura that could make even Klingons cower and he went straight to you. He grabbed you fiercely by the shoulder and you looked at him with fear and anxiety in your eyes and heart.

"(Y/N), you are coming with me." He growled.

"What? Father, why!" You questioned.

"It is clear that this was a mistake, they have influenced you- let you out of the castle, taught you things you were not meant to know, and you dare ask for another week?! Princesses are not meant to be seen or heard by the public! You were to only be seen once you were married off! You have become the rebellious teenager that I did not want!"

"If I may interject, the princess is quite the diplomat and well-focused despite her disabilities. Ending the arrangement could prove detrimental to both of our kingdoms as there won't be any other kingdom willing to take her, and I have enough trouble as it is finding a proper partner for my son. We should talk more in private." King Sarek interrupted, stepping forward to your rescue.

"No, you clearly do not understand. She is weak, you can do better than her." He explained, making you bite your lip in guilt as you pushed back tears. Spock was the next to step forward, placing a gentle hand around your waist and pulling you close.

"I do not mean any disrespect to you, your majesty, but I feel as if you are taking away any choices she has. If she wishes to stay, why shouldn't she? After all, our marriage will only strengthen the bond between our two kingdoms. As my father stated, this could prove harmful to both of our kingdoms."

"You say that as if you have a choice in the matter, Prince Spock." Your father spat. Spock looked at him with hate-filled eyes and slowly let you go.

"Don't lose hope, princess, if there is a way to get you back, I will find it." He whispered into your ear, filling your anxious wreck of a mind with a small hope. You nodded in return and shakily stepped toward your father.

"I will come with father, just please- stop yelling." You pleaded. Your father relaxed and gave you a warm yet sinister smile.

"Thank you my ray of sunshine, why don't you wait for me in the carriage." He patted your head. You gave a small nod and left as he began to calmly talk to King Sarek. By the carriage was a more buff blonde man with blue eyes who always wore a charismatic smile.

"Good afternoon, princess."

"Good afternoon General Kirk. I thought you would be back at the kingdom, not here." You replied.

"Well, this is kinda the only time I get to see my girl. Since we're in separate kingdoms, we only get to write!" He gave a slight chuckle.

"Oh yes, Ms. Rand! She was the handmaiden who helped care for me! She was really sweet." You smiled sadly as you kept trying to fight back the oncoming tears. It felt like a chain was wrapped around your throat and your ears throbbed as you talked.

"Yes, she is- are you alright, your highness?" He asked with concern. You felt your manner break and you choked out some tears. You shook your head no as you tried to wipe them away- but they kept falling.

"N-No- I-I'm sorry- I can't-" You shivered out.

"Hey, hey, it's alright. Just get in the carriage and luckily for you, your father is riding in a separate carriage with a guest. It'll be alright." He comforted, rubbing a hand on your back as he guided you to the carriage. You nodded and got in, trying not to let out any sniffles. You looked back at the entrance to the castle and saw Spock staring back at you with a sad look. You gave a smile through your tears, trying to give him a sense of comfort but you knew it failed. The door of the carriage shut and you were left there waiting for your father as thoughts began to swarm your mind as your inner voice screamed at how terrible you were. All you could do was pathetically sob. Soon enough, the carriage began to move. The journey took hours, and once you got to your castle at midnight, your tears ran dry. You were greeted in the front foyer with a warm hug by your loving mother. Sometimes, it felt like she was the reason you kept going. Not your brothers, your father, or your books and art- but her.

"Oh, lovely- I know this is rather distressing, I'm terribly sorry." She commented as she rubbed your cheek and looked at your puffy eyelids.

"She'll be fine, you shouldn't worry about her anyways. She's 16, she can deal with her emotions." He waved away. Your mother bit her lip trying not to argue, and looked back at you.

"Let's get you to bed, shall we?" She smiled. You nodded and followed her to your bedroom, clinging onto her arm the whole way. She smiled down at you and spoke softly. "You enjoyed your time there didn't you, (Y/N)?" You nodded in reply with a slight blush, making your mother smirk. "Oh I see, so I did right in choosing your partner, then." She confessed with a smirk making you look up to her in shock as the two of you entered your room.

"You chose Spock?" You gasped. The two of you sat down on your bed

"Yes, I decided on him a few months ago after analyzing him and a few others very carefully. Your father was actually easy to convince on the matter because he and King Sarek are actually fairly close due to the strong alliance between our two kingdoms. Spock was the best of the four as while he is rather stoic, I knew by him having a human mother, he can handle human emotions. Plus, he is extremely kind-hearted under that stoic manner- I could see it in his eyes." She explained. Your mother always had a way of knowing someone's true intentions and whether they were good or bad.

"Hey, mother?"

"Yes?"

"Do you actually love father?" You asked. A long silence filled the air as she pondered over the question.

"That is a complicated question. You see, I married him when I was 17 and he was 28- It was an arranged marriage, and I was in love with another. While I don't love your father like I loved my original love- I don't hate him as I would my enemies. Do you understand?" She tried to explain as she tried to choose her words very carefully. She then took your hands and stared deeply into your eyes. "That's why I took charge in finding you a proper husband. I wanted to find someone I thought that you would truly love- not just a man who you'll live with and care for- but someone who will care for you and love you for who you are. I don't want you to end up like your father and I. I love you too much to see you like that." She explained further as tears filled her adoring emerald green eyes. You nodded and hugged her tightly- never wanting to let go.
