It took four days before anything happened. four days of Farren spending more time with the birds, dogs and Conrad than she did with any of her friends. When she wasn't in the plains surrounding Edoras she was playing with the children of Rohan, teaching them how to dance and sing or getting Conrad to run up and down their arms. Eomer sometimes joined her with the children, his smile contrasting the dark lines under his eyes of late nights trying to convince his father to ride to Gondor.

They didn't talk about the kiss. But their friendship didn't change either. The easy conversation and laughter between them filling any silences that the children sometimes left in place. Eomer had seemed a little wary the first day, looking around constantly as if he was worried someone would see them together. He had gone ridged when he saw Legolas and Gimli watching the pair play with the children from above.

Farren had ignored the elf's gaze and slowly Eomer became more relaxed again, the children loved to play with the plumed top of his helmet. Aragorn was the only other person she spoke to, her brother also had dark lines under his eyes of sleepless nights. Farren knew too well that he too had his own nightmares, she had taken to climbing under the covers with him, just like she had done when they were children. She often felt him shaking at night with silent sobs. The siblings helped each other in their won quiet way in the darkness, not drawing attention to themselves but holding each other together.

But Farren had her own feelings that kept her up a night, if it wasn't Mordor in her Dream's it was Legolas' face, his lips on hers, smooth unlike Eomer's. She felt angry at herself, she felt like she was betraying Fili. She couldn't love Legolas. She just couldn't.

Unless she always had.

Memories ran around her mind. Legolas' laugh, his smile as he broke the surface of a clear river that Farren had playfully pushed in into 45 years ago. His arms around her waist as they sat in front of a fire, the flames dancing before them sharing stories under the stars.

She had looked at Legolas as friend for all these years until now she finally realised she loved him.

"I will never feel the same way about you as I did Tauriel". His words made her physically curl in on herself. How stupid was she? She had kissed Eomer, Eomer was right their waiting for her...But he wasn't Legolas.

It was just before midday of the fourth day after Gandalf departure when Aragorn crashed into the throne room, Farren glancing up from the map with Eomer beside her. "The beacons are lit. The beacons are lit. Gondor calls for aid" her brother said panting. Farren stilled her gaze falling upon the king of Rohan who stood to her left, he stayed silent for a second then met her gaze.

"And Rohan will answer. Master the Rohirrim".

Farren released the breath that she had been holding as the room around her exploded into motion. Legolas appeared at her side his hand brushing hers and for the first time in days Farren allowed his presence, despite the quickening of her heart. It was the excitement she told herself. Not the elf that made her heart race. Eomer nodded briefly to Legolas before marching off to prepare the Rohirrim.

Farren darted out of the room towards where men were saddling their horses, Eomer stood talking quickly with his King. Her sleek black stallion, Nuallan nudged her head, he was by far the quiet horse around. His sleek black coat gleaming in the sun his polished saddle already atop his back. Pulling herself atop Nuallan she trotted over to Aragorn and Eowyn who was pulling a blanket over a sword. She looked between Aragorn and Farren before settling on her brother's face "They would ride to their deaths for you. You give us hope. Both of you"

Eomer's voice cut through the crowd, "Now is the hour, riders of Rohan. Oaths you have taken. Now fulfil them all! To Lord and Land!" Farren, Aragorn on Arod and Legolas on his white horse gallop to the front of the column with Theoden and Eomer, leading the way towards Gondor. Even Gimli and Pippen had their own small ponies.
