They could hear the sound of the battle from a mile downstream, when they docked at Gondor Farren could hear the angry yells of the orcs. A quick glance at Aragorn told her to stay down for a while longer as her brother launched himself over the side of the ship. Legolas' hand brushed her back smoothly, "Together." He whispered in her ear as the two of them threw themselves over the side of the ship. Both landed smoothly either side of Aragorn.
"There is plenty for the both of us" Gimli stated as the four of them walked towards the group of orcs, "May the best dwarf win." he threw at Legolas.
Despite herself Farren laughed, "I believe Gimli won the last time." Legolas' playful cry was the last thing Farren heard before the army of the dead swept out from behind them. Farren was quickly swept away from her brother and friends instead she cried out for a horse. A maple coloured one galloped up to her tossing its already blood-stained mane, from the saddle it looked to a one of the Rohirrim's horses.
Swinging herself up onto the horse, she urged it into a gallop towards where the elephants were causing havoc for the men of Rohan. The men were withdrawing leaving a strip of the plain empty, Farren heard the cried of her name as she galloped through the ranks heading straight for the elephants.
As she passed new hope seemed to spring up in her wake, helped by the army of the dead that were currently sweeping through the orcs behind her. She burst past the final rank of the Rohirrim into the no man's land between men and elephants, a lone figure against 3 huge creatures.
Her sword was still drawn as the sunlight caught her hair that was being blown behind her by the gentle wind, she sat atop the maple horse, her head held high. A strange warmth filled her body and this time she did not try to fight it she let it crawl up her and into her throat as she stared down the huge creatures. She could feel their minds as if she was looking at three stars in the sky. Sound faded away as she focused. "Turn." She ordered, her voice traveling a lot further despite its volume, it seemed to hum through the air towards the elephants.
"Turn against one another." she commanded her voice loud and strong, amplified by some magic so it cut through the tumult of battle. It was a simple command but she had learnt that sometimes those were the best ones. Arrows were beginning to be aimed at her from men atop the elephant, but the maple horse remained where he was, obedient to her command. The elephants had come to a halt, surveying her.
"Turn" she yelled. And this time the elephants turned towards one another and started to drive their huge tusks into the others torso. Huge droplets of blood rained down from above, exhaustion seeped into Farren's bones, to such an extent that she didn't react fast enough to the screech that came from above her. The Nazgul King's Hell-Hawk grabbed her with its ivory talons pulling her off her horse and into the sky. Farren's blade slipped from her hand tumbling towards the earth, glinting in the sun.
They were high in the sky, the Hell-Hawk circling, Farren dangling from its claws, she caught a glimpse of the army of the dead sweeping up through Gondor's streets as well as a glimpse of Legolas who stood beside the body of a fallen elephant looking up towards the sky. Towards her.
Suddenly the creature dived and Farren screamed as the earth rose rapidly to meet them, she was dropped a couple of feet above the ground, she managed to roll on impact so not to shatter her legs. She tried to turn to face the creature but a cold, metallic hand grabbed her throat. Pulling her into a robed chest.
On the ground she saw Theoden's body, his eyes misted over, Eowyn's blonde hair was matted with blood as the shield maiden lay on the ground, eyes closed with a grey pallor to her skin. Farren struggled but a cold voice spoke from above her head. "He wants you alive. You are to be his Queen." Farren struggled harder but the hand around her throat tightened and she choked. Her vision becoming spotted as oxygen was denied to her brain. Her gaze fell upon the Hell-Hawk who was growling at her, its black slimy tongue licking at the blonde that covered the grass.
