Writer's POV:

They all arrived at their destination, except for Aurelio, Santiago, Angelina and Valaria. Leandro was the first to leave the car, the others following after him. His men stood in adoration and respect as they walked by. Dressed in tailored, fitted black suits, they stood on either sides of the makeshift they had created for the DiVaio family, which led from their cars, through the DiVaio mansion, and into the living room.

With their arms folded behind their backs, they bowed their heads as Leandro passed by, with his family following behind. His gaze rested on the beautiful mansion that was considered as the headquarters of the DiVaio family.

Once they reached the living room, he began giving orders like always. The ladies sat down, already making themselves comfortable. Leandro stood in the middle of the room as all of the staff surrounded him. Emeliano and Lorenzo stood by his side. They were also respected and feared, considering the fact that Lorenzo was the underboss and Emeliano was the consigliere.

The shuffling in the room stopped as soon as Leandro cleared his throat, gaining their attention. "I leave Rome for a few months and everything has turned into a shit show. People are stealing from me now? You know I don't tolerate such." He said in a calm voice, but everyone knew he was boiling inside. He sighed, then looked at his butler. "Piero, show the girls to their rooms, and take Kayleigh to my room." He pointed to Kayleigh, causing everyone to look at her.

Everyone was shocked that their boss was finally letting a lady stay in his room. No female has ever entered his room, not even the maids, his butler was always the one to clean his room. Clearly, this girl meant something to him.

Piero, the butler, gave his boss a subtle bow, "As you wish, Sir." He said, a thick Italian accent coating his voice. "Ladies, follow me." They did as told, Kayleigh feeling the heat of their stares as she walked past them.

Leandro turned back to look at the rest of his employees. "I'm calling a mandatory meeting, I want to know about everything that happened while I was away. I want to see everyone in the conference room in ten minutes." He said in a stern voice, before walking out of the room.

He headed towards his bedroom with long strides. Reaching the bedroom, he knocked twice before entering. Kayleigh sat on the bed with a frame in her hands. She smiled as she held it, admiring the photograph.

"Is this you?" She asked him, holding up a photograph of a young boy with ocean-blue eyes and brunette hair. Leandro gave her a nod. "You look so cute here, it's almost like you were so innocent, before this life ruined you."

Clenching his jaw, he stared right into her eyes. "That's because I was. I didn't know that guns, drugs and violence existed or that they could ruin people's lives. I was just a little boy who loved painting, a boy who was at peace. My grandmother always said I was a quiet one."

She got up from the bed and placed the picture frame where she found it. She sighed, looking around the room. "Is it worth it? This life, is it worth ruining your own happiness? I mean, don't you wish you could have a peaceful life with kids and a wife?"

He scoffed, "Happiness doesn't exist in my world, Kayleigh. These sacrifices that I have made were for my family. If I hadn't accepted this position, The Council would have ended my family."

"Well, don't you at least want a family of your own in the future? Don't you want kids? A wife?" She asked, folding her arms across her chest.

Chuckling, he shook his head, "Who would be crazy enough to start a family with me? I sell drugs and kill people. What great things would I teach my children?"
