Kayleigh's POV:

They all looked at me like they had seen a ghost. I mean, I couldn't believe it myself. The man who had been after Leandro and his family was my uncle. Viktor Belikov. I knew from the moment that Leandro said that name, shit was about to hit the fan.

Lorenzo started laughing, no humor at all behind that laugh, but okay. "No. Nope. Tell me you're fucking joking." He gave me that creepy smile of his, making my hands sweat. When I didn't reply, he let out a deep chuckle and turned to his older brother, "Leandro, what the fuck have you gotten us into? You understand what this means, right?"

They all turned to Leandro but I couldn't even look him in the eyes right now. I could already feel his intense stare. And to be honest, I wasn't ready to deal with him.

"Everyone, I need a moment alone with Kayleigh." Leandro said, surprisingly keeping his cool. When everyone didn't move, he sighed. "How many times do I have to repeat myself? I told you to give me a moment alone with Kayleigh. Please." The moment he said 'please', everybody got up and left the room, leaving me with Leandro. He cleared his throat, "Kayleigh, look at me."

Swallowing hard, I raised my head to look at him. "I-I didn't know it was him. P-please, Leandro, y-you have to believe me. If I knew, I would've told yo--"

"Kayleigh." He said with such a stern tone that it actually made me flinched. He sighed, running his fingers through his hair. He stalked dangerously towards me and bent down to my level, "I won't hurt you," he said when he saw me flinch. "I believe you, Kayleigh."

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, "You do?" He nodded. "But why?"

He let out a deep chuckle and placed his hand over mine, causing chills to run down my spine. "Because you don't look like the type to betray me. You're not that stupid, are you?"

I chuckled, "No. I wouldn't betray you. I'm not stupid, Leandro."

"Exactly. Now, tell me, have you actually met your uncle face to face? I mean, did you have a relationship with him?" He asked, rubbing my knuckles with his thumb. I nodded. "Did he acknowledge the fact that you're his niece?" I nodded once again. "And...did you know that he is involved in the mafia business?"

I shook my head, "No. I only knew him for five years. I mean, he didn't actually show me the affection an uncle is supposed to show his niece or his nephew. He always favored my sister more than me. I always felt like he hated me but I never knew why. I asked him one day and you know what he said? He said; 'Katya, tebe ne khvatayet ambitsiy' "

I could see how amused Leandro was when he heard me speak Russian. "And what does that mean?"

"Wait, don't you know Russian? I thought you knew almost every language."

He shook his head, "I've never been interested in learning Russian. So, tell me, what does that mean?"

"It means 'Katya, you lack ambition'. Gosh, I hated when he called me by that name."

"Katya?" I nodded. "So that's why you don't want me to call you by that name?" I nodded once again. "It's a nice name, though. What does it mean?"

"It means pure. It's the diminutive form of Ekaterina. My dad said my mom really wanted to name me Katya. He says she always knew my soul was pure, that I was her innocent baby. But my uncle always made fun of that name. He said being pure makes you weak."
