Percy and Jason kept the storm going until they got farther from Charleston. İt seemed like forever, but finally, the sea calmed and the winds died.
Seeing the two out of the three most powerful demigods she knew at the brink of death terrified Hazel.
She wasn't exaggerating it. Percy and Jason sat with their backs against the mast, heads slumped in exhaustion. Amoriel and piper were taking care of Jason while Annabeth looked after Percy. Hazel was watching Amoriel from where she sat next to frank.
The ravenette hide it really well but hazel knew that she was slowly burning herself out. She was stressed from the quest, tired from the nonstop fighting with little to no sleep, and worried about their brother. And it killed hazel to know that there was nothıng she could do. Meeting Amoriel Fletcher was the best thing that ever happened to hazel. When she first came back to life she was scared and confused but Amoriel took her under her wings both literally and figuratively, she trained the younger girl and teached her, loved and cared for her like nobody else in her life did before. Being around Amoriel lessened both flashbacks and nightmares but most importantly Amoriel made Hazel feel accepted, a feeling Hazel never thought she would ever have. But that was Amoriel for you she had a way of always making you feel loved and wanted.
Amoriel quıckly became her sister and now Hazel couldn't imagine a life without her big sister. She was the strongest person Hazel knew and the person she loved the most, which is why she had no romantic feelings for Leo Valdez like Sammy. Hazel Levesque was no home wrecker and she could see how much they loved each other. She didn't know Leo well but she knew Amoriel and she knew even though she was super flirty with everyone her stunning mint green eyes never shined brighter than while she looked into the Latino boy's eyes and Hazel had no bad wish for their relationship in her eyes there was no person deserved a happy ending more than Amoriel Fletcher. She still thought Leo should know about Sammy though but that conversation had to wait a little.
With Leo's arrival, everybody gathered at the mast.
"No sign of pursuit," Frank said.
"Or land," Hazel added. She looked a little green, which Leo guessed was from the rocking of the boat.
Leo scanned the horizon from his place next to Amoriel. He turned to Annabeth. "Did you find the map you wanted?"
She nodded, though she looked pale. Leo wondered what she'd seen at Fort Sumter that could have shaken her up so badly.
"I'll have to study it," she said as if that was the end of the subject. "How far are we from those coordinates?"
"At top rowing speed, about an hour," Leo said. "Any idea what we're looking for?"
"No," she admitted. "Percy?"
Percy raised his head. His green eyes were bloodshot and droopy. "The Nereid said Chiron's brothers were there, and they'd want to hear about that aquarium in Atlanta. I don't know what she meant, but..." He paused like he'd used up all his energy saying that much. "She also warned me to be careful. Keto, the goddess at the aquarium: she's the mother of sea monsters. She might be stuck in Atlanta, but she can still send her children after us. The Nereid said we should expect an attack."
"Wonderful," Frank muttered.
Jason tried to stand, which wasn't a good idea. Piper grabbed him to keep him from falling over, and he slid back down the mast.
"Can we get the ship aloft?" he asked. "If we could fly—"
"That'd be great," Leo said while putting an arm around Amoriel's waist. "Except Festus tells me the port aerial stabilizer got pulverized when the ship raked against the dock at Fort Sumter."
