"dixie! oh my it's lovely to see you!" Amy exclaimed as she opened the front door to meet a very nervous, but still excited Dixie. Though it took some running and a slight shoulder shove to Noah, she beat him to the door.

"Hi Amy! its great to see you to, you look amazing" dixie complimented causing Amy to blush in the slightest "pff you spoil me to much" Amy shrugged shooing her with her hand bashfully before noah came into the entry way in hopes to stop his mother from blabbing some of the private information he had told her earlier...

Noah wasn't one to tell the whole world his business but when it came to his mom- she knew practically everything about her boy. The relationship noah had with his mom was very special to him, so he was always overall protective of her as well as his sisters meaning he didn't take just anyone home to his family, especially a second time.

Amy on the other hand was nothing short of thrilled to see noah and dixie interacting again. Don't tell them but, she was hoping thsi day would come sooner rather than later. Now noah did not have many girlfriends in his lifetime but that doesn't still does not discredit dixies title as amy's favorite girlfriend of his. Maybe she can be a two time champion?

"so... someone told me you guys have christmas tree in need of decoration? christmas is in like four days what have y'all been doing?" dixie asked both amy and noah, referring to what Any told dixie over the phone

"well this one practically begged me to wait for him to get home to decorate the tree" amy rolled her eyes signaling towards noah

"oh i see..." dixie said trying to hold in her laugh

"there is nothing wrong with wanting to celebrate the best holiday of the year" noah said on his defense

"wrong, christmas is not the best holiday. My birthday is" dixie corrected

"only you dixie... only you" noah said shaking his head while dixie laughed at her own joke

Amy interrupted their argument by letting them know she was heading to the basement to get the bin of ornaments, while dixie tagged along.

"so dixie how's new york treating you?" amy asked as they walked down the stairs together

"it's been good, i'm staying with a friend and i got noah so it's not all that bad" she answered blushing slightly but amy couldn't see with the dim lighting of the basement

"i'm glad you two have someone out there who you're familiar with, definitely gives me some reassurance that he's not being a total idiot anymore. I know you'll keep him in line"

"believe me i will, but mind me asking why you're so worried?" dixie questioned

"as you know noah isn't the best when it comes to self control at parties, around alcohol and such, he was like that in highschool but he still had you so he was a bit more tamed. I'm sure you can imagine what he was like without you there" amy said falling quiet during the last part

It was hard to see her little boy fall apart every now and then. He had his reasons no doubt about that, after what happened with bryce and all, but amy never agreed with the way he coped. Maybe that's why she liked dixie so much, she had a hold on him like no other.

It took dixie a minute to process and come up with an answer. What amy said brought back new memories that she was sure she had hidden away. Noahs problems with alcohol and substance abuse definitely took a toll on their relationship when they where younger but nothing they couldn't overcome.

"i'm sorry to hear that. That but you don't have to worry honestly, i don't plan on leaving anytime soon" dixie said offering a warm smile

"good, i'm glad" amy said reciprocating it.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

"okay so you unpack the boxes and i'll get the tinsel and try to make it look nice" noah explained once amy and dixie brought up the last of the boxes

"i can't believe your mom trust uswith this, we may be adults but i don't think we can even untangle the lights properly" dixue said hesitantly

"i second that!" amy shouted from the kitchen- where she busied herself with a batch of chocolate chip cookies

"i'm going to shove it in both of your faces when it turns out amazing, do not doubt my skills"

"you do that, i'll be here looking at the pretty ornaments" dixie grinned before returning back to going through and sorting the glittery decorations

A good hour passed by of dixie handing noah supplies, as he hung it up in the tree. Dixie was reaching the bottom of the ornament bin, when she saw something that caught her eye.

She picked up the small square ornament, with a white picture frame like border surrounding a picture.

"dixie? next ornament please- what happened?"

Dixie didn't answer she just looked down at the small object and couldn't help but smile. Noah walked over and placed his hands on her shoulders from behind peaking over to see what she was looking at. Once he saw he instantly smiled to.

Inside the ornament was a picture of them from senior year- new years 2016. Not just any picture but it was of them kissing once the clock struck midnight. There where lots of people around but just by looking at it you could tell they where the only ones that mattered. Dixie even remembered charli taking that picture in their living room that day, and Amy had it made into an ornament for the following year.

"wow" dixie said quietly once she processed what she was looking at

"we really where cute huh?" noah teased

"the cutest"

Slowly turning around, dixie looked up at noah so she was now facing him but he still held her shoulders lightly. With their faces only centimeters apart, noah tried to read the situation and make sure what he was about to do next was the right decision. He raised his eyebrows slightly at dixie indicating that he was asking her something, and she smiled even more confirming her answer.

He trailed his hand up to her jaw while giving on more look of confirmation before leaning down-

"dixie! noah! the cookies are done- oh my i'm sorry!" amy exclaimed walking into the living room

Noah and dixie jumped apart the second she came in, internally cursing her for breaking up their moment. Both of them finally mustered up the courage to do what they had been secretly longing to do since they laid eyes on one another again, but it was take. away once again.

Almost, but not quite there yet.

"i-its fine amy i was just leaving anyway, thank you for having me over but i should be going" dixie muttered quickly, turning a dark shade of pink

"you are?" noah and amy said in unison, shocked at her abrupt need to leave

"y-yea, but i'll see you soon, thanks again" dixie collected her purse and phone from the couch then walked over to noah. She went up in her toes and planted a quick kiss on his cheek, and flashing him an innocent smile. She was gone.

"gee thanks mom"

heyyyyyy y'all i'm back lol hopefully for good:)
