"I can only imagine, how it is to be with you,"
Stacy smiled, her eyes finding their way onto Luke, longing for the day she would be able to run into his arms.
"From the first day I saw your face, I knew this love was true,"
She recalled the day they met. It was the first day of kindergarten, they were seated next to each other. They simply clicked, and after that, they became the best of friends. She didn't realize then that Luke would be the boy she'd fall in love with.
It wasn't until several months later, Zander came into the class, and Luke had invited him to play with them at recess.
"But you're already taken, nothing I can do,"
The auburn-haired boy glanced up from his drums, gently smiling. That smile, the same one that made Stacy's heart beat faster. The smile that made her feel she had purpose, one that could lighten her day on any dark moment.
However, he wasn't smiling at her. He was smiling at his other childhood friend, Zander, who stood behind the piano, unaware of the ginger boy's staring.
"So I can only imagine, how it is to be with you,"
Stacy truly felt awful. She genuinely tried to let go of her feelings for Luke after she and Zander had made that promise in middle school, but every day, she just kept falling further, to the point where she was head over heels in love with him, fantasizing of him at any given moment.
She assumed that the ombre-haired boy had moved on from Luke, and he would understand. She thought he'd be perfectly fine if she confessed to Luke, which is what she planned on doing.
"I can only imagine us both loving through the night, I can only imagine us together side by side... I can only imagine we're dancing through the moonlight, I can only imagine... I can only imagine..."
"Absolutely wonderful, Jake!" Daisy clapped her hands, slightly jumping.
"Oh, uh, thanks, Daisy!" The peach-haired teen stammered, "I'm glad that you're here! Er, um, I'm glad..."
The rest of that conversation was a blur for Stacy. She only remembered gazing at Luke, a look of concern locked into her eyes, as she saw a distressed expression on his face. She decided she'd talk to him about when they were alone.
Stacy must've zoned out, because the next thing she knew, Hailey was dismissing them. The azure-eyed girl hung her violin up on its rack, then noticed Zander leaving the room, and she quickly trailed behind him.
Before leaving, she noticed Jake approaching Luke through the corner of her eye. Zander seemed to notice as well, as he asked Stacy if she knew anything about it.
"I don't know," She replied simply, "We shouldn't eavesdrop, though."
The violet-eyed boy nodded in agreement, and they both stood outside the music room in silence. It wasn't as if they were intentionally listening in on their conversation, Jake and Luke just happened to be speaking fairly loudly.
"You know, Jake, I'm kind of jealous of you."
"Huh?! Really?! Why?"
The taller boy let out a soft laugh, "I mean, don't get me wrong," He chuckled, "I couldn't be apart from my baby!"
Stacy snickered at his comment. She always found his desire for the drums she had gifted him adorable. Technically, she and Zander had both pitched in the money to buy them for the drummer, however, it was her idea. She also noticed a small smirk forming on Zander's face, as he stared at the ground.
