(Slight blood warning)
Zander shyly walked behind his two best friends, clutching onto his backpack straps, giving them both ice-cold glares.
Perhaps Zander was overexaggerating, or misreading the situation, but listening to Stacy basically throw herself to Luke made his blood boil. He wasn't sure if the auburn-haired boy was aware of Stacy's light flirting, although Zander was quite certain Luke was just mistaking it as friendly, platonic behavior.
He had a tendency to do that. Though intelligent, be of Luke's very few negative traits was his obliviousness to nearly any situation.
It wasn't until Stacy cling her arm onto Luke's, batting her beady, pale arctic eyes at him, when Zander lost it. She was surely doing it in a friendly way, more jokingly if anything, and was doing some sort of impression. Luke didn't seem to mind, as he just laughed at the ridiculous British accent she was trying to pull off.
He tried to fight it back, he really did, but eventually, the jealously got to him. Moving so he was directly next to Stacy, he took a moment to glance down at her feet. Her hickory boots clamping against the ground, creating an aggravating clipping sound.
His head darted back up, his eyes tracing the bronze and orange trees, blocking the golden sun from view. He then stuck his foot on, so it was in front of Stacy's.
She let out a short yell, stumbling forward a few steps, before losing her balance, collapsing onto the path. Her face crashed against the concrete, as she managed an agonized groan.
"Stacy! Are you okay?!" Luke quickly dropped to her side, placing an arm on her back. The ombre-haired boy stood next to the pair, his cold, violet gaze staring down at them in silence.
"Ow..." Stacy moved so she was in a sitting position, one hand on the ground, supporting her shaky body, while the other was drenched in blood, covering her nose.
"Oh Gosh," The ginger boy winced upon seeing his friend, "Stace, that looks bad... Let me just..." He slowly guided her hand away from her face, seeing large rivers of blood dripping out from her nose, onto the floor and her clothing. "Here, let me take you to the nurse's office," He helped her off the ground, then wrapped his arms around, beginning to walk back towards the school, which was only about a minute away. Luke then turned back to his other childhood friend, "We'll meet up with you later, Zan."
Zander didn't feel a single drop of remorse. He wasn't even sure what happened, he just let the jealously take over, to make him trip her. To make him trip his best friend.
Then something just clicked. Like someone had simply flipped a switch inside his brain.
He understood why Stacy spilled the soda.

"Oh, your bandage is coming off a bit," Luke's golden eyes briefly met with the periwinkle eyes of Stacy's, before looking down at the two bandages on her nose, seeing the one on the top beginning to peel off. His free hand leaned forward, lightly pressing it back into place, while his other hand was still entwined with those of the indigo-haired girl, as she sat on the bed in the nurse's office, him on the small stool right next to her.
She couldn't help but grin, watching his delicate, concentrated expression as he carefully fixed the bandaid. Finally, he finished, his eyes pulling away, back onto hers. Stacy noticed a few copper strands out of place, hovering over his forehead.
She reached her hand up, softly brushing them back into place, noticing a genuine smile brush across his face as she did so.
"Thanks, Stace..." Luke murmured, cupping her hand with both of his.
