Chapter 18 -The words she'd been waiting to hear

Marshall's POV:

I had just finished getting changed after my shower when someone called me.

"Hello."

"Hey, are you gonna pick me off at the airport or should I just take a taxi to your house?" Sara asked.

"Well I have Hailie with me right now and she's sleeping being that it is still morning so would you mind just taking a taxi?"

"No not at all. Ill be there in about half an hour or so. See you soon."

"Yea see ya soon." Fuck she's on her way and I need to prepare Hailie to see her. I had spoken with Hailie and Kim about getting my baby to meet Sara but I never told them when.

I walked into Hailie's room to wake her up.

"Hey baby.Wake up sleepy head." I shook her lightly.

"No daddy I'm sleepy." she softly said.

"I know Hai Hai but I got someone I want you to meet and she's gonna be here soon. Come on get up."

After washing her face and brushing her teeth and being changed, I brought Hailie over to the kitchen and served her waffles.

The doorbell rang. Oh fuck here it goes.

I opened the door and there was Sara with a good amount of stuff.

"Here let me help you." I told Sara right when Hailie came towards our direction saying," Who is it daddy?"

Hailie just stood there not knowing what to do since there was a stranger in the house.

I closed the door and grabbed Sara's hand to introduce her to Hailie.

"Hailie remember when I was talking to you and mommy about how I wanted you to meet my girlfriend? Well this is her. Her name is Sara."

I looked at Sara who gave Hailie a warm smile.

"Hi Hailie," she waved," It's nice to finally meet you."

" You're my daddy's girlfriend?" Hai asked Sara.

"Yea." Sara said enthusiastically.

" Are you gonna have breakfast with us? Daddy just woke me up so I'm barely going to eat."

"Sure. I would love to."

After breakfast Hailie went to her room to get her coloring book.

"Marshall, I brought Hailie some things. Could I give them to her when she comes downstairs?"

"Yea, sure." She looked a little nervous, "Hey just relax. Everything is going great."

Hailie came downstairs.She sat on the floor in front of us.

"Hailie I actually brought you some gifts.I hope you like them.They're just a little something."

Sara brought a bunch of bags and they definitely weren't just 'a little something'.

Hailie came closer to Sara and looked a little hesitant at me as if waiting for approval.

"Go on baby open them."

Hailie began opening her gifts. There were Barbies, jewelry for young girls and purses, girls games, and some sweets which are alright with me.

"Thank you."Hailie said with a smile very happy with what she had recieved.

"You're welcome gorgeous."

"Hailie why don't you bring all these things up to your room?"I told her so I could privately talk with Sara.Hailie nodded.

I patted Sara's thigh to get her attention,"Thank you. I mean it might not be the easiest thing to date a guy with a kid, but you're really trying and that means a lot."

"Hailie makes it really easy. She's really cute."

...

We were lying down in bed just having a small chat,

Sara hugs me really tight and says," I just want to enjoy being with you as much as I can."

"Same. You know I'm really proud of you for handling today really well."

"Thanks, Emy."

"Emi?"

"Yes. Short for Eminem but you spell it E-M-Y.Thats my name for you.Cute huh?"She joked.

"Fuck my life are we doing nicknames now?"

She smiled and shrugged her shoulders," I dunno."

"Well let me think. I gotta come up with a horrible one for you now."I was playing around.

"Hey!"She smacked my shoulder.

I was there thinking for a couple seconds."I got it. Yours is mama."She looked at me with a what the fuck face."Yea you know like "Dang mama you fine!" She laughed at me.

"Is that mine now,mama?"

"Yea."

"Okay then."

I hugged her and began softly tickling her.She tried to not giggle too loud cause Hailie was sleeping.I laughed at her.

"Please stop."I stopped and kissed her.God this girl makes me so happy.

I grabbed her cheek,"I want you to know something."

"What?" She asked with a smile.

I paused a bit and then said,"I love you."

Her smile got wider," I love you too."

It was the greatest feeling in the world hearing her say it back.
