Chapter 17

Ash and Kukui faced each other outside on the beach.

"Pikachu, I choose you!" Ash shouted as Pikachu leapt into action.

"Lucario, use your fighting spirit and win!" Kukui exclaimed as he threw Lucario's Pokeball.

"Pikachu, start off strong with Electro Ball!" Ash commanded.

"Defend, with Aura Sphere!" Kukui commanded.

Both attacks collided, causing a cloud of smoke to show up in the middle of the field.

"Pikachu, run through that smoke and use Iron Tail!" Ash commanded.

"Block it with Force Palm!" Kukui commanded.

Pikachu leapt up and attempted to slam his tail into Lucario, only for Lucario to defend himself.

"Pikachu, jump back then use Electroweb!" Ash commanded.

Pikachu jumped back and launched a large net of electricity, effectively trapping Lucario.

"Now use Quick Attack!" Ash commanded.

Pikachu shot forwards and slammed into Lucario. Lucario flew out of the net and landed hard on the ground.

"Your batteling skills have improved, but I dont see anything too speacial yet." Kukui said.

Ash smirked and nodded to Pikachu. The same process as last time happened and Pikachu was now in full sync with Ash.

"Incredible!" Kukui shouted.

"Now the real fun starts!" Exclaimed Ash.

"Lucario, Bone Rush!" Kukui commanded.

Ash just smirked and Pikachu took off. Pikachu ran upto Lucario and collided his tail with Lucario's bone staff, making it shatter. Pikachu the jumped onto Lucario's head and grabbed his ears. Then a massive bolt of lighting shot down from the sky right onto Pikachu and Lucario. Lucario roared in pain as smoke came from his body. He tried shaking Pikachu off but to no avail. Pikachu then jumped up and used Slam to send Lucario right into a Lucario shaped hole. Pikachu ran back to Ash and reverted back to normal.

"I think it is clear my Lucario lost." Kukui chuckled as he returned his loyal Pokemon. "You always amaze me Ash."

Ash chuckled and nodded.

Alola League Stadium

Ash watched each day as Calem humilliated his opponents. Eventually, it was the night before the Championship Battle and Ash was sitting outside by the water, contemplating his options to beat Calem. Pikachu was playing nearby with Rowlet. Eventually the sun fully went down, and Ash was laying down in the sand, holding Pikachu. He was exhausted due to many sleepless nights because he had been either crying in sadness or he had been training. The memories of that horrible day, played over and over again in his head.

"What am I to do?" Ash asked himself. "I was foolish to not listen to Serena when she was appologising. If I did, then maybe we could have worked it out. But now, I am without the one I love and I cant sleep. My throat is sore due to repeated crying and my eyes ache. I am not who Arceus should have chosen."

Burnet walked out and looked at Ash.

"Hey Ash, you should come in." She suggested. "You have a big battle tomorrow."

Ash groaned in annoyance and rolled onto his side.

"Ash, are you alri-"

"Just leave me alone!" Ash snapped.
