The transition from high school to college was a wild one.

For twelve years of your life, you were told when to eat, use the bathroom, and when your classes would be. All of a sudden, you get to make your own schedule, and you're free from the constant supervision of your parents.

It was a quite liberating season of life.

I loved not having to ask my parents to go out, but it still felt weird to be out after midnight.

At least being on the dance team gave me some structure.

Lord knows I needed it.

Cause it was a Saturday night, and here I was about to go out to a bar with my friends. Which never meant holy activity.

Nia put her hands on my shoulder. "Going out is good for you. Crying and pouting in your room over some boy is so stupid. Plus, I always thought you were way out of his league. You were doing charity work."

Nia had been my best friend and teammate since we were eight years old. We went to the same dance studio, school, and now college. In the sixth grade, not only did we become neighbors, but we also became inseparable.

No one knew me better than she did.

That's why we would always be N² forever.

I nodded my head. "We're gonna feel this tomorrow at workouts, but hey!"

"You only live once." Genevieve (who we affectionately called Evie) put her arms around Nia and I's necks.

She was so ditsy when she was drunk.

Nia did a tight-lipped smile as she adjusted her hair.

"I need to do my edges, but I'll be quick." Nia began, "Evie, make sure that you bring water with you."

"The Uber is three minutes away so hurry!" Merren shouted as she sat on the couch.

Evie and Mer were also best friends before we got to UCLA like Nia and me. We all became close since all four of us were on spirit teams and our apartments were right across the hall together.

It was funny the way life worked out.

We got our shit together and got in the Uber to go to the bar. As expected, it was busy since it was a Saturday night. Good thing that I loved to people watch.

"Oh my gosh! Look who is here!" Merren squealed as we waited for our drinks at the bar.

She subtly pointed at a group of guys across the bar. "The taller one with the dark hair. See the one with the flannel on?"

I nodded my head. "Is he famous or something?'

"Basically," Merren responded as she brushed her flaming red hair behind her ear. "That's Beau, he's on the baseball team. He has like two hundred thousand followers on Instagram because some TikTok blew up and he's good at baseball. Isn't he so cute?"

He definitely wasn't bad-looking whatsoever.

Beau was very tall with curly dark brown hair. He had a nice facial structure.

"Mhm." I agreed.

Wait, TikTok?

I scrunched my face. "Does he make like cringe dance TikToks?"

Merren shook her head. "Actually,  no. He's only done like one or two thirst traps. Most of them are like vlogs and relatable shit with funny sounds. But you know, if you're good lucking it doesn't take much to blow up."
