After the most eventful four years, I was graduating from UCLA with a 3.7 cumulative GPA with a degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Visual and Performing Arts education. I was a four-year member of the dance team, founded my organization, and was the Vice-President of UGSA.
I'd made it through the highest highs and the lowest lows.
This fall, I was going to the University of Southern California to work my way into becoming a Physician's Assistant.
I was so extremely proud of myself.
I knew that he was proud of me too.
Beau was in the middle of his baseball season, he had a home game tonight, but here he was at my graduation. It truly meant the world to me that he came.
Beau and I made our somewhat "long-distance" relationship work. From the moments that spring training started at the end of February to October, the MLB was Beau's girlfriend. He basically had a game every day, but he still made sure to make time for his friends and family.
I loved on him every second of his off-season.
To think that the people thought that we wouldn't last since we were in two different stages of life. He was off playing professional baseball, and I was still a college student who worked at a dance studio part-time.
But when you wanted something bad enough you made it work. We both wanted each other so badly.
Look at us now, twenty-four and twenty-one and still together.
Two whole years with the best partner that I could ask for.
My entire family came to my graduation. Literally, my entire family from my mom's side to my dad's side. I'd never felt so loved in my life.
They really traveled thousands of miles to watch me get an expensive sheet of paper.
"I can't believe that I have a law school grad, a college grad, and a high school grad!" My mom exclaimed as she hugged me.
Poor baby Tate was only going into seventh grade. I guess she wasn't really a baby anymore. Who am I kidding? She would always be my baby sister.
"I can't believe college is over." it finally hit me.
Good things weren't changing too much since I would still be living with Nia. It was funny the way things worked out. She was also going to USC for law school.
I think it would feel weird when we finally stopped living with each other.
"This is only the beginning of a beautiful life." my grandma advised.
Cheers to that.
"Congratulations, Natty." my uncle gave me the biggest hug. "We're so proud of you."
As I took pictures with my family, I watched as people came up to Beau for pictures and autographs. I always thought that it was so cool to hear how he impacted people's lives.
My boyfriend was the coolest.
His eye met mine and smiled at me.
"Natalie." he said in a sing-song voice as he walked over to me.
Beau handed me the prettiest bouquet of flowers. "Happy graduation to my favorite woman."
"Thank you." I smiled as I looked at the bouquet that was made up of white & beige roses, lavender, eucalyptus, and other plants that I didn't know the names of.
I looked into those gorgeous hazel eyes.
I loved looking at him.
Beau was really mine.
