"We don't have to harm him. She will come on her own."

"What do you mean?"

"It's no secret that the princess is in love with Donghua Dijun," said Le Xu. "She would go to the ends of the earth for him, sacrifice her cultivation and her life for him if she had to."

"So?"

"All we have to do is wait for a day where he leaves on official matters, and then spread a rumour that he lost his cultivation and is severely injured. She would never stay in Qing Qiu after that."

"She might not play right into our hands." Su Jin argued. "Her aunt is already trying to thwart us. Bai Feng Jiu would know that it was a trap."

"I don't think she would think that far. We just need her to come the Nine Heavens, and we have to catch her before she finds Si Ming."

Su Jin thought for a few minutes, and then smiled. "I like it."

And so the plan was set. They were to carry it out on the day Donghua Dijun left for routine check on the Donghuang Bell, for which he would leave for days on end.

"Donghua Dijun has lost his cultivation! He has been severely injured! The most powerful god in all of civilisation...." the people of Qing Qiu, who had been easily fooled by the rumours, cried out as they huddled near the Fox Den.

Word spread, and before long, Feng Jiu had heard of it.

"What do you mean he's lost his cultivation! It's not possible- he's the most powerful deity anyone has known."

"The people said so!" Mi Gu said. "I do hope he's okay."

Feng Jiu shook her head, clearly agitated. "Aunt and Crown Prince said not to leave the den without their knowledge, but I need to see him!"

A firm look came onto her face.

"It's better if I go check for myself." She said. "That way, I will have peace of mind. Watch the Fox Den for now, Mi Gu. I'm going to make a trip to the Nine Heavens. I won't be long."

"Little Princess!"

But she had already flounced out of the den.
