"What went wrong?" Su Jin said bitterly.
"That Phoenix caught me. He found out why I was there."
"I can't wait any longer. I need Bai Qian dead." Su Jin slammed her hand down on the table.
"Do it. I too want to see you become my Daughter-in-law, so do it if you must." Le Xu snapped.
Su Jin walked to her table and summoned a small flask. She held it up triumphantly.
"Spider poison," she explained. "If it is sprayed into the eyes, she can die." Keeping poison in the Celestial Palace was actually a crime because it meant unearthly purposes, but Su Jin always had that flask with her in secret.
Le Xu knew the protocol. But she was so desperate for Su Jin to officially enter Ye Hua's harem with Ye Hua's willingness that she nodded. "We should tell Bai Qian to come up here and pretend to apologise."
"No." Su Jin replied. "Her son." Le Xu laughed. "Ah, yes. That little boy. So loyal to his mother no matter how she let him down."
Su Jin smiled. However behind that smile was fury. She wanted to torture Bai Qian, slowly, to see her suffer in eternal agony. And Ye Hua would do nothing to stop it after she made her move. Digging her nails into her palm until it bled, her eyes glittered. Bai Qian would not escape from her clutches this time.
____________
Ye Hua and Bai Qian sat in silence. It had been so for a while. Ye Hua longed to hold her hand, to talk, but something held him back. Maybe he felt her sorrow. As for Bai Qian, she mulled over the events that had happened after jumping from Zhuxian Terrace. From seeing her son, to finally getting pushed to the edge by Le Xu.
She was struck by a horrible thought. She met Le Xu, she knew what she was like. What if...
"A-Li!" She cried.
"Don't worry, I put him in Nai Nai's care." Ye Hua cut in.
Before he could continue, she cloud jumped to the Palace.
Her heart was hammering. A-Li was her son no matter what and she would never allow anything bad to happen to him.
She burst into his chamber.
It was empty.
Bai Qian's heart dropped into her stomach.
That wasn't the worst part.
It was Nai Nai running into the chamber screaming and crying that the little boy had disappeared.
______________
"Let me go!" The little boy was squealing and kicking at his bonds."Little grandson." Le Xu cooed. "If you want to leave, then your parents must die."
"Grandmother?" A-Li asked, stopping his struggle for awhile. Then he continued to writhe and beat at his bonds.
"Let me go!" His muffled screams continued until Su Jin used some magic to seal his mouth.
"Annoying little boy," she said sulkily. "The whole Palace would have heard."
Before she could react, Bai Qian swept into the room, Ye Hua behind her.
_____________
"Where is my son?" Bai Qian shrieked, to no one in particular.Ye Hua glared at Nai Nai. "How did he go missing?" He demanded.
"I-I- Your Highness-" Nai Nai was close to tears.
"It cannot be her fault. She is a good person. She took care of A-Li for 300 years, she must have earned your trust. Nai Nai, what happened ?" Bai Qian asked.
"I went to the back to get water. And- and when I came back, he-he was gone." Nai Nai stammered before falling to her knees.
"Get up." Ye Hua said softly. "Qian Qian, you are right, I was rash. I could not have taken my anger out on Nai Nai, she has indeed earned my trust after 300 years."
Nai Nai got to her feet trembling.
"I believe I know who took him." Ye Hua's eyes gleamed dangerously. "There are only so many people in this Palace who are revengeful enough to take the Imperial Grandson away. Come."
____________
"I will not give him back." Su Jin insisted. "You abandoned him, fox queen. You as a mother have failed. He belongs to me now as a rightful side consort of Ye Hua.""He can only go to you if I die. I am still alive. I don't think it is your right that you take him from me."
"Your right?" Su Jin's laughter was maniacal. "You hold no right here, Bai Qian."
"My son is the Imperial Grandson. I don't think this would go down very well if anything bad happens to him." Ye Hua said fiercely.
"My son." Le Xu spoke up. "Bai Qian charmed you. Can't you tell? If you leave her and consummate your marriage to Su Jin, you can bear heirs with her and won't your throne have a forebearer?"
"I never agreed for her to come into my harem. Why should i consummate my marriage with her?" Ye Hua's face was expressionless.
"If you do I will not kill your son as I planned originally." Su Jin wheedled.
"You won't kill my son. And if possible I will avoid marrying you as well." Ye Hua snapped.
"Xin Nu!" Su Jin summoned the ever faithful maid.
"Take Bai Qian away and lock her up in the Sealing Pagoda until I am done here. You will not do anything to her.
Only I can. Take her away."As Bai Qian was hauled away, Ye Hua whipped around to face her.
"How dare you," he fumed at her.
Le Xu smiled coldly. "We don't mean to apologise, Ye Hua."
"I can let Bai Qian go. But you must marry Su Jin." Le Xu stated.
"I-" Ye Hua faltered.
He was in an impossible situation . If he married Su Jin, Qian Qian would never speak to him again. She would definitely not marry him anymore.
But if he didn't marry Su Jin, Qian Qian's life would be in danger.
But then again he could find excuses to not marry her later on and still save the woman he loved, right?
But he didn't want to wait to marry Bai Qian, and nor did he want to let A-Li die.
What was he going to do?
