Bai Qian and Ye Hua had shared some nasty words, and A-Li had heard every single one of them.

He was horrified that his mother no longer wanted to marry his father, he had so wished for it to happen.

The moment his father had stormed out of the hut, he ran inside and took both of his mother's hands in his tiny ones.

"Mother, are you really going to drink the amnesia potion? You don't want me anymore?" He asked, his little mouth drooping to one side.

Bai Qian suddenly felt bad for allowing her little baby to feel like no one wanted him.

"A-Li," She said, squatting down so she could look at him without bending over, "I love you very much and I hope you understand. But I just don't feel that I can go through the marriage under the circumstances. Do you understand that, A-Li?"

He bowed his head and said, "if that's what mother wishes, I will not interfere." He excused himself and left. Bai Qian watched him go, her heart getting heavier by the second.
______________
"What do you mean you allowed her to drink?" Zhe Yan demanded of Ye Hua. "I tell you to make an effort to heal her heartache and this is what you tell me?"

"I cannot change her mind. The least I can do is to-"

"The least you could do is to try and persuade her! Even I don't want to give it to her. Crown Prince Ye Hua, you healed her heart once and you broke it again, bringing her up to the Celestial Palace. And with what your mother said, it wounded her even deeper. What you did was not what I wished of you!"

"But she has already made it clear that she never wants to have anything to do with me. She doesn't even want her son and so why should I be the one begging for her!" Ye Hua's anger was vented, blow by blow on the astounded Zhe Yan.

"Crown Prince, I am completely disappointed in you." He said fiercely. "I may have distanced myself from the affairs of the world, but I won't allow you to speak to me like this. Xiao Wu's happiness is a very important thing in my life, and you have compromised it. I have no idea what you plan to do, but you'd better do it fast. If she drinks that potion and you haven't made any move, you will have to answer to me and the rest of the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan."

The threat was clear. Ye Hua had grown up living according to his grandfather's wishes. But this time, Zhe Yan didn't care what position he held, be it a Crown Prince, he would still chastise him if Bai Qian suffered emotionally.

Zhe Yan walked away.

But before Ye Hua could react, two Celestial guards appeared.

"We have come to collect High Goddess Bai Qian ." They said in unison.

"Collect her? Why?" Ye Hua said in disbelief.

"She disrespected Consort Le Xu. She must go to the Celestial Palace to answer for her crimes." One guard replied.

Thrusting their hands into the air, they summoned her out of thin air. She flew straight into shackles.

She struggled but to no avail.

And then they vanished.

Ye Hua was dumbfounded. He quickly cloud jumped to the Celestial Palace.

Quickly he went to the Grand Hall, and he saw Bai Qian being forced to kneel before his grandfather and Le Xu.

He stepped forward.

"Bai Qian, for disrespecting a deity, you will be locked in the Evil Sealing Pagoda for-"

"Might I know what is the meaning of this?" He asked, his voice edged with anger.

"The reason, Ye Hua, is because this High Goddess had disrespected Consort Le Xu. And I won't let that one go." His grandfather said, looking at Bai Qian with distaste.

"Mother-" Ye Hua turned to Le Xu.

"My son. I told you that you would never be able to marry this woman if I didn't allow it. And I don't. So you will be marrying Su Jin. This is final."

Ye Hua got mad. Usually he would've bowed and got on with it, but no today.
Zhe Yan's words had knocked sense into him and he wasn't going to let her leave him. Not again.

"No." He said.

The Heavenly Lord blanched . "Did you just say no, Ye Hua?"

"I said no." Ye Hua's voice was quiet but firm. "And I'll be taking her with me. Su Jin will never step foot in Xiwu Palace."

Su Jin, who was standing by, smug that Bai Qian was being punished, now turned red. Who was to say that she couldn't make it into Xiwu Palace? Didn't he know how much she loved him?

"Ye Hua!" She cried, falling to her knees. "Have you no idea how much I've longed to marry you? Do you not know of my affection for you? Why won't you let me marry you? Besides, when you become Heavenly Lord, you cannot only have one wife."

"Indeed, Ye Hua." His grandfather said, smirking when he saw that Ye Hua hesitated. But that joy was short lived.

"I can." Ye Hua said. "And even if I were to marry another side consort, it wouldn't be you."

Su Jin slumped onto the ground.

"Why?" She sobbed. "Why have you never reciprocated? What does that wench-" she pointed at Bai Qian. "-have that I don't? Why do you like her so much? WHY?"

"Because of who she is." Ye Hua replied simply. "I will marry her and as for this, I will not listen to you." He added to his stunned family.

Taking Bai Qian's hand and pulling her up, they left the Grand Hall.

Once they had landed safely in the ten mile peach grove, Bai Qian wrenched her hand away.

"I don't need your help." She snapped.

"How would you have gotten out of there otherwise?" Ye Hua retorted.

"I could've done so without you interfering! Thanks to you, your family
hates me even more." She snarled.

"What's it with you?" Ye Hua snapped. "Why are you so against my family?"

"You saw what they did to me!" Bai Qian insisted. They already owe Qing Qiu a great many debts, and yet now, they... disgrace me and Qing Qiu."

Ye Hua shook his head. "No matter what, they are still my family."

"I'm not asking you to give them up for me," Bai Qian said impatiently, the statement brushed aside dismissively. "I'm just saying that maybe they should show some respect for Qing Qiu. We never offended you."

"But," she continued, "If you still don't get it, I won't make you." She left, peach blossoms flying all around her.

Ye Hua looked at her retreating figure, and felt demoralised. He was supposed to make her forgive him. But he seemed to be making it worse.

He cloud jumped away, vowing never to give her up.
