Bucky's POV
It's been 13 days and she hasn't left her room. Or let anyone in. I expected that though. If I were in a house and had my own room I wouldn't have left or let anyone in either.
I tried talking to her. I wanted to show her my metal arm and how she thought my arm was so cool when she was younger and now she is just as cool as me. But she needs her time, and I respect that. I don't want to push to early, because I'm new to parenting too and don't really know what to do.
Clint had tried to get her out and teach her how to use a bow and arrow. Didn't work. Tony wanted to show her how to use all the technology in the hopes that she will be the next billionaire playgirl genius.
Today was different. She let me in. In her room of course. Her food was untouched. She hadn't eaten a proper meal in 13 days.
"Why haven't you eaten?"
"I can't. I'm not hungry, and I can't move it."
"That's ok, I'll show you."
I could see she was bleeding, from her shoulder. I lifted her shirt sleeve to see all the cuts and scratch marks on her shoulder.
"Kay I'm sorry"
I went into my bathroom to get my first aid kit and grabbed Nat on the way.
"Hey Nat can you help me with Kayden please, she has cut herself."
Nat got up from her bed and followed me into Kaydens room.
"Hey Kay, it's good to see you again. I missed you."
Nat slowly walked through the door to make sure that Kayden was comfortable with her presence.
"Hey Nat"
I opened the first aid box and grabbed rubbing alcohol, gauge pads and a bandage.
"Hey Doll this is going to sting, but only for a few seconds ok. I promise I will be gentle and if you want me to stop just say stop."
I could tell she was scared. And I totally understood. Any physical pain is traumatic, since that's all we went through in HYDRA.
"Can you hold my hand?"
She looked down into her lap as if she was ashamed to ask the question.
"Of course I can Doll, anything to make you comfortable."
I placed her flesh hand in mine. So that she knew it was ok. And there was nothing to be scared of.
I rubbed the alcohol over her cuts as quick as possible. She flinched a few times but nothing major. I wrapped her shoulder in the bandage and rolled her sleeve back down.
"Well down Kay." Nat said throwing the gauge pad in the rubbish bin.
"I'm proud of you, do you want to go downstairs and get some food?"
"Ok"
I helped her off the bed and we followed Nat downstairs to the kitchen where everyone was waiting patiently for her. She sat at the table and I brought a plate of leftovers to her and sat right next to her.
"I can't move."
"I'll help you, ready? So do this."
After a while she got the hang of it and was able to feed herself with her mental arm.
"Your doing so well, I'm so proud of you Kayden." I said as I pulled her into a tight hug.
I was lucky to have her as my child. She makes me a better person. She helps me stay grounded. She is the reason I'm still here.
