Long Lost Ranger

Sick Day

Kaya woke up feeling groggy and went down to the kitchen. Tommy was in the kitchen fixing some omelet that Kaya likes. Kaya walked into the kitchen while yawning.

"Morning big brother," Kaya mumbled.

"Good morning lil sis," Tommy said as he glanced at Kaya and gasped softly, "Sis are you feeling ok?"

"Not really... feels like I am going to throw up..." Kaya mumbled.

Tommy sighed softly remembering the last time when Kaya was sick. Tommy stops cooking and turns the stove off. Tommy walked to his twin sister and picked her up. Kaya cried out in weak protest.

"Sis, you are staying in your room and get some sleep. I will bring the medicines for you and soup for lunch," Tommy said as he walked up to Kaya's room.

"Ok..." Kaya mumbled as she nearly fell asleep.

Tommy smiled under his helmet as he walks. When he got to Kaya's room, Tommy walked to the bed and put Kaya on the bed. Kaya falls asleep the moment her head touches the pillow. Tommy smiled softly at his sister but knew it would be at least 48 hours before she would feel better.

A couple of hours later, Kaya woke up still feeling sick. She saw her brother walked in with the soup. Kaya was about to speak as Tommy shook his head.

"Sis, please refrained from speaking until you are feeling better," Tommy said.

Kaya nodded knowing that he is right since the last time she got sick, she couldn't talk for 3 days after feeling better. Kaya took the soup from Tommy and eats it. Tommy watched his sick sister eating the soup. Kaya eats until she couldn't eat anymore so she hands the bowl to Tommy. Tommy took it from her and leaves Kaya's room. Kaya yawned and fall asleep.

A few hours later, Kaya woke up a little better but still feeling sick. Kaya slowly gets out of her bed as she got a feeling that she is needed for something but wasn't sure. She went down to the Dino Lab and don't see anyone except a strange-looking shield on the floor.

'What is this and where is everyone?' Kaya thought as she gets on her knee to touch the shield.

Kaya gasped softly when she felt something pulled from her that is draining her into the shield. Kaya tried to pull herself away from the shield but couldn't. When Tommy walked into the Dino Lab after taking Trent to the small room for resting, he gasped seeing his baby sister giving her power to the shield.

"Sis! You should be resting!" Tommy scolded as he ran to Kaya's side.

Kaya weakly looked up to see her brother. She showed him why she couldn't move her hand. Tommy saw what Kaya is showing her so he helped to move her hand that cut the power off from the shield. Tommy picked Kaya up and put her on the chair.

"Sis, what were you thinking?! You could've got hurt or died," Tommy scolded his sister more.

"It wasn't my fault. I just saw the shield on the floor and I got so curious to see what it is. Then the next thing I knew, I felt something was draining from me to that shield so I tried to move my hand but couldn't. You know how I get curious even though I shouldn't be touching without you or anyone being here with me," Kaya telepathed through their bond.

"I guess I couldn't stay mad at you since you didn't know what is going on," Tommy sighed.

Kaya nodded and watch her brother. Tommy went back to the shield and gave his power to it. Kaya watched and silent as she has a feeling that Connor would need it soon but don't know how she has that feeling. Tommy grunts and groans while giving the power to the shield. Trent came out of the small room that he was resting.

"Dr. O," Trent said.

"I'm fine. Just a little drained," Tommy said.

"Really? You don't sound fine, big brother," Kaya telepathed.

Trent yelped wondering who is speaking.

"Trent, I am speaking through telepathic since it's an ability I was born with it. Right now, I am not speaking out loud since I am sick and the last time I couldn't speak is when I was sick and have to wait for 3 days to get my voice back to normal," Kaya telepathed explaining it.

Tommy nodded knowing it is the truth but sighed softly. Trent put his hand on Tommy's shoulder.

"Believe me, I know how you feel," Trent said.

"Same," Kaya telepathed.

"It'll be worse for Ethan and Kira. I hope they're up for it," Tommy said as he is worried about the rest of his students.

Kaya saw Tommy left to take the shield to the Dino Rangers while Trent stays with Kaya to keep eye on her after promise Tommy that he would take care of her. They were watching the Dino Rangers fighting until they defeat the monster with the help of the shield that Connor was able to use. When they returned from the fighting and headed to the Dino Lab, Kaya fell asleep when Connor, Kira, and Ethan walked in while talking.

"Guys, keep it down. Kaya is sleeping," Trent said.

They turned to Trent to see that he is telling the truth when seeing Kaya sleeping on the chair.

"Sorry," the Dino Rangers whispered since they didn't know that Kaya has been sick all day.

Tommy smiled softly and went to pick Kaya up to take her to the room. Tommy put Kaya on her bed and put the blanket on her. Trent followed Tommy and see how Kaya looked cute but knew that Kaya's soulmate, Billy, would not be happy if Trent takes Kaya from him.

"Dr. O, do you think Kaya would be fine after long rest?" Trent asked.

"Yes and I can tell you was thinking that Kaya is cute. She does look cute when sleeping but Billy does not like you taking his soulmate," Tommy said.

"I know and I'm sorry," Trent said.

"You know that Kaya and I do forgive you for that," Tommy said as Trent nodded.

The men left Kaya's room to let Kaya sleep much longer.
