"Alright then, twerp! Prepare to lose against us!" Meowth said while pulling a lever inside the mecha. Then, grappling hooks tipped with steel spikes came from the arms of the Giga-Meowth robot, aimed at Ash. He acted quickly, avoiding them all with his Pokemon with their extreme agility.
"What the?!" Meowth said while seeing this. He extended the hooks again, to reach Ash. The rest of the Team Rocket members in the mecha were sipping Kalosian tea while watching Meowth work to defeat Ash.
After being cornered by the hooks, Ash kept his composure and started to give his commands. "Alright, Pikachu, use Iron Tail against the hooks!" Ash said while pointing at the hooks. "Infernape, use Flare Blitz and burn the upper parts of the hooks!"
Both Pikachu and Infernape jumped into the air upon hearing Ash's order. Pikachu sliced a dozen tips from the hook, making them fall to the ground one by one. None of them struck Ash's Pokemon. Meanwhile, Infernape burned off the top part of the wire, melting it into shreds.
Team Rocket was horrified by this. They shouted from the top of their lungs when the grappling hooks fell from the mecha. "JAMES! WHAT'S THE MEANING OF THIS! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 'INDESTRUCTIBLE STEEL RODS' IN THIS MECHA?!" Jessie shouted at him, with her hand even reaching the control panel.
"Chill out, Jessie, you're disrupting my driving!" Meowth said while maneuvering his body to avoid Jessie's rage.
"Jessie, the indestructible steel was made for the body of the mecha... not the hooks," James explained.
"Alright then meow! Let's crush the twerp for the world belongs to Giovanni!" Meowth said while starting to steer again.
Now, it moved slowly towards Ash and his Pokemon. They retreated, while the mecha was advancing. Serena, Misty, Cosette, and Sophie were looking at Ash, concerned at the fact that he was retreating and that Team Rocket was turning the tide of battle to their side. After Ash was pushed back several meters, the battlefield stood still.
"Serena, should we attack now?" Cosette asked her.
"Not yet... we should attack them when they are overwhelmed by hubris. Then, we'll find their weak spot easily," Serena explained.
"But... Ash tends to be reckless! I'm concerned about him!" Misty replied to Serena in a high voice. She put her fist on her chest because she felt worried about Ash.
"No, Misty. Ash might be reckless at times, but he is also strong... and dependable," Serena reacted to Misty's reply. "And I trust him to carry out the first part of the operation."
"Alright, Serena. We're gonna go with your plan here," Sophie said.
Meanwhile, on Ash's side, the situation was dire for him. Ash was thinking of a way to search for the weakness of the mecha and exploit it, while he was continually retreating due to the attacks.
"The twerp isn't gonna attack at all?" Meowth asked as he saw Ash retreating.
"Let him attack, defend, or retreat, but we'll crush him with our new mecha and Pokemon!" James reacted to Meowth's question.
"I guess, meow~" Meowth replied.
He steered the mech forward so that it could ram into Ash and his Pokemon. The standstill ended, as Team Rocket advanced while Ash retreated. The mass of the robot caused the pavement beneath it to crack. Ash retreated so far that he was out of range for Serena's hotel garrison's visibility.
"Alright, then! Noivern, use Supersonic!" Ash said after succeeding to keep a large distance between him and the mech.
"Huh? What the hell is he doing?" Jessie asked in a perplexed tone.
