mingi and i became best friends throughout middle school, and we met a few friends along the way.

first we met seonghwa and hongjoong, who we referred to as mum and dad.

then we found wooyoung, who took quite some time to break out of his shell and open up to us.

we were a fun, happy group of five...

until that day.

before this certain day had occurred, mingi made a confession to us.

he told us that he had been getting bullied...

"what?!" seonghwa exclaimed.

"a-are you okay? you're not hurt, are you?" hongjoong stammered.

"why you though...? you're like..." wooyoung couldn't think of a word.

"perfect..." i muttered, not realising i said it out loud.

"h-huh, oh, um— sorry!" i blushed.

"anyway, you should tell someone! like your parents!" hongjoong frowned.

"obviously, he already told us..." seonghwa started playing with hongjoong's hair.

"...i mean his actual parents!"

"um, mingi, it's not that bad, right?" i went up to him with my arms spread out.

i felt like he needed a hug.

he accepted it. "no, don't worry! i won't listen to them, i have you guys! it's not that bad!"

but it was that bad...

one day, a few days before our middle school graduation, mingi and i were alone on the rooftop.

"hey yunho... i've got a question."

"ask away!"

"if i were gone, forever, would you miss me?"

where is this coming from?

"well, of course mingi! you're my best friend! without you, i'm incomplete..."

"oh, okay."

then he went silent.

after a few minutes of silence, mingi spoke up.

"i have another question..."

"g-go ahead."

"make sure you answer honestly!"

"i will, i promise."

he went silent again.

"do... do you..."

he was hesitating.

"mingi, i said go ahead." i smiled.

"r-right."
