chapter four - the day we met...

"are you ready for your first day of school?"

i wasn't very sure how to answer that question, so i stayed silent.

mama didn't seem to care.

the concept of going to school hadn't even crossed my mind, until mama told me i had to.

can i even make friends?, i wondered.

i didn't make friends with anyone in kindergarten, i mostly kept to myself or an educator.

there were a few educators i really liked to talk to, who i'll probably never see again.

i was quietly glancing out the window, when we pulled up to a small building i wasn't very familiar with, my new school.

"sweetie, can you go to your class by yourself? mama needs to hurry to work."

i nodded reluctantly.

the only problem was that i had no idea where i was going.

mama had already left my side, so there was only me who could help.

i was too frightened to ask anyone for help, as they could be a parent, or someone rude...

okay, i sighed, let's see...

i started to do the most reasonable thing, look around.

no one seemed scared or nervous like me, everyone had already settled in their friend groups and bunches.

it must be nice...

then, something gave me a shock.

"ahh...!" i silently screamed.

i'm going to be late. the bell had just rang, and everyone in the yard started making their way to their classrooms.

there were a lot of adults surrounding me.

i did the only thing that was on my mind. run.

by the time i had stopped running, no one was in my sight.

thank goodness, i faintly smiled to myself.

i took a seat on the ground at the end of a playground at the back of the school.

what am i going to do? wait here until someone finds me?

i had no better ideas, so i stuck with that.

"this is going to take forever..." i muttered.

"what's going to take forever?" i suddenly heard a calm voice ask.

"huh? who's there?"

"behind you!"
