XIX

After a long run down the tunnels, we were finally out and official inside WICKEDs walls. Just thinking about what could go wrong and how WCKD could capture me again was terrifying.

"You all know the plan, let's go" Thomas said as we all stood around him.

Thomas and Newt started jogging away in their direction, Frypan to his. Gally gave me a quick wink before he ran after Thomas and Newt. Soon after that me and Brenda made our way down to the basement car park at WCKD.

Making sure the cost was clear we sprinted towards the wall, where we could hide and not be seen. We did this numerous times until we reached the basement.

We were hiding behind a bus when Thomas checked in through the walkie-talkie. Everything was going to plan, and i had a good feeling we were going to pull this off.

"Which one?" Brenda asked, as we stood in front of around 20 buses.

"6th one in." I replied.

"Why that one?" She said while smiling.

"Dunno, i just like the number 6." I shrugged my shoulders, and she did the same before we ran towards the bus.

We reached the door and Brenda started trying to open the door.

"How are we supposed to open it?" I asked, while i had my gun in hand on the look out for any guards.

"Teresa said something about a button near the side of the door." She said quietly while searching for the button.

"I don't like her."

"Yeah, well neither do i." As soon as she finished her sentence the doors opened and she stood up as we smiled at one and other.

I checked round the corner of the bus and saw that no one was there. I walked towards the door following Brenda inside, as the doors closed behind us.

"do you even know how to drive?" I asked.

"Not really, I've drove before though as well as seeing Jorge do it a thousand times." She replied, turning everything on.

"That's the best we're gonna get so let's go." I walked down the isle of the bus, just for safety when i heard a guard. "Shit Brenda get down!" I yelled.

She quickly turned everything off and then we knelt down to the floor out of site from the guards. A few minutes later and they were gone out of site.

"They're gone, we're good to go." I held my thumbs up, eyes still on the outside of the bus.

When Brenda took off i almost fell over which made her laugh as well as me.

Brenda pulled to a stop when she spotted Gally and the 28 immunes. "Get in!" She yelled out the window.

I reached over and pressed the button to open the front and the back door of the bus. All the kids flooded on as i looked around to see where the others were.

"Where's Thomas?" Gally asked, also looking around for him.

"I was just about to ask you the same thing, he's not back yet." I replied.

"Wait here, i'll go find him." He had his gun in hand, making him look even more attractive. I shouldn't say that, but oh well.

"I'll Come with you." I Grabbed a gun and slotted it into my belt, then jumped down from the bus, face to face with Gally. Dam he's tall.

"No Leah, stay here." He held a hand to my chest stopping me from going any further.

"Come on i can help." I started walking past him but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back, so i was even closer to him than i was before.

"Please Leah, I can't be worried about protecting you while there's bullets flying about everywhere and besides you can't blend in, your short." He smirked at the last bit of his sentence.

"I'm not even short, your just tall. I can protect myself." I should have moved away from him but i wanted to be close.

"I know you can, So protect these kids." He had his eyebrows raised making him look scary serious.

"Fine, but if you get hurt, i'll hurt you more for getting yourself hurt."

"Same goes for you." He smirked.

He started jogging away, and i stood there watching he leave. Then suddenly he turned round and sprinted back towards me.

"Just in case." He said, a little out of breath. Then his lips came crashing into mine for a few seconds and then he pulled away with a smile on his face while i stood there shocked. With that he ran back in the direction he went before and vanished behind a wall.

I turned around and got back on the bus still in shock. I noticed Brenda glaring at me with a smile on her face also.

"What?" I asked curiously.

"You guys look good together."
