Without a nose

XVIII

I stared and stared for ages as i felt myself sinking deeper and deeper in the bed as well as my mind. I felt emotionless in that very moment, i felt like i couldn't move. I was tired, but couldn't fall asleep. i shut my eyes waiting for sleep to take over me but it never did. I was desperate for it to just engulf me in like the waves crashing in but even the sea was motionless.

Even though i had all this time to think, i couldn't put any thoughts into place. Like an impossible jigsaw where none of the pieces actually fitted into one and other. I felt my body slowly becoming more at the lack of movement and my face felt like it was sliding right off.

I could see what was in front of me but i couldn't see. A remote had put my brain on pause and apparently on mute too.

"Leah, LEAH!" I heard a voice. It was smooth and higher pitched, definitely a feminine voice.
"LEAHHHH!" I felt the vibrations from the shout as well as the shaking of my shoulders.

My eyes finally snapped back into focus and i saw Brenda hovering over me with a worried expression.

I sat up slowly which was accompanied by a throbbing sensation in my nose.

"Finally, you shared the shit out of me. You wasn't waking up." She sat on the edge of the bed near my feet.

"Sorry, i didn't realise myself." I rubbed my eyes then tried to flatten out my hair.

"Gally told me you'd be in here." She replies looking down towards her hands.

"Did he?" I said unenthusiastically.

"Everyone's gathering things we're gonna be leaving soon, we're gonna get Minho back." She smiled.

"It's strange how i'm going to help you guys save him when i don't even know him." I smiled back.

"Minho will like you. I don't know him very well either to be honest."

"Well Gally is throwing himself at it."

"Do you want to talk about what happened?" She asked hesitantly.

"No, i want to forget about it." I frowned.

"We better go to everyone, so we can go over the plan again." She said standing up and holding her arm out to help me up.

I grabbed onto her arm as she helped pull me up and we walked out the room, down corridor until we met where everyone was."

"Me and Newt will enter the building with teresa and head to the lower level, where Gally will met us. From there we will go to where Minho and the rest of the immunes are being kept, as well as getting the serum. That's where Brenda and Leah come in. You guys will get one of the busses in the basement parking lot. We will met you down in the basement, load everyone on to the bus, and Fry will use the crane to get us back over the wall." Thomas said from the head of the table while we all stared eagerly.

"Right let's go then" Newt said. And immediately all of us moved away from the table and started heading towards the hole int he ground.

Thomas went first, followed by Brenda, teresa and Fry, Then me then Gally. We all climbed down the ladder one by one, until we safely reached the bottom, where we were met with a large tunnel.

Thought out the walk i didn't look back at Gally once, I didn't want to speak to him, and i needed to clear my mind. I kept walking dragging one foot after another in front of me.

After around 10 minutes we reached a separate tunnel where we had to duck to walk through. I walked through uncomfortably until Thomas stopped.

"As soon as you step onto these tracks you need to run as fast as your legs will take you." Thomas shouted so we all could hear.

We waited until a train had just passed before everyone jumped out of the hole and started sprinting along the tracks.

I was never very fast at running, and i certainly was not now, but i managed to keep up.

We all heard and felt the vibrations of the next train, and my heart started to beet faster. I saw Thomas disappear into a hole in the wall as Newt, Brenda and Frypan did. I was just about to make it, and i felt Gally behind me pushing me up to help. As i placed my foot to the edge it slipped and i game tumbling back down. Luckily Gally caught me, but the train was seconds away.

I felt myself being thrown into the hole and being caught by Frypan. But just as i opened my eyes i saw the train zoom past and Gally was no where to be seen.

I felt my heart drop and ache, this wasn't happening right now. Thoughts rushed into my head, I was still mad at him. He's gone thinking i hate him, i never got to tell him everything, i'm never gonna see him again.

I felt a tear leak from my eye and roll down my cheek. I closed my eyes in the terror as another tear escaped.

i felt the connection of a hand to my cheek, which caused me to open my eyes, and my heart lit up.

"Your not allowed to cry over me." He smiled, holding my face in his hand as he sipped the tears away.

I didn't say anything but i jumped into his arms instinctively. Then pulled away when i realised that i probably shouldn't hug him when he's nothing but a friend.

"Come on guys, let's keep moving." Thomas shouted.

We all stood up and followed Thomas, i looked back at Gally to see him smiling, and i turned back smiling.
