Without a nose

XXI

My eyes flickered open, not ready for the light. My head was banging continuously as it ached in pattern. I opened my eyes fully to see Fry.

"Yes your awake!" He shouted in excitement.

"Yes i am, now what's going on?" I sat up and Lent on my elbows.

"Brenda is talking to Thomas and-" He was interrupted by the noise of a berg, how i remembered the sound of them so clearly.

I jumped up and so did Frypan, we ran over to where Brenda was outside looking up at the berg.

"We're coming to you!" She shouted over the noise do Thomas could hear her.

The berg landed and a familiar face stepped out. It was Jorge, and someone else who i didn't know.

I followed everyone on board, as each one of the immunes took a seat at the walls. I stayed stood with Brenda and the rest of the older ones.

"Vinc, Leah, Leah, Vinc" Brenda said.

"Nice to meet you" vinc smiled and held his hand out.

I took his hand in a firm handshake and smiled back at him.

"Come on then" Jorge shouted as he was already seated in the pilot seat.

Within minutes we were back on the ground and the door to the berg opened ever so slowly.

When we stepped out we heard a girl who i think was teresa speaking over a tannoy to the whole city. I listened carefully as she mentioned Thomas and how he saved Brenda and how he could save Newt.

I was confused, i hadn't known anyone for that long but i think i managed to piece it together.

I noticed Newt acting weird, more aggressive. I didn't think anything of it at first because i didn't know him, but now i've realised what it was. He has the Flare.

"We need to get to Newt NOW!" I shouted.

And as i did Gally and a boy i hadn't seen before turned up.

"We need the serum now!" The boy shouted.

Brenda quickly ran back into the berg and came back out with a small glass tube containing some blue liquid.

She continued running and towards the direction Gally and the boy had just come from.

I ran after her, so did Gally and the boy. With each run we had to stop, the city was chaotic with fire and bullets flying everywhere.

Brenda just kept running, she didn't care. I tried to follow her lead but Gally was in front of me holding me back against the car we were hiding behind.

As soon as he started to run, i ran faster and over took him, getting closer to Brenda. I'd never ran as fast, and my legs were aching but not giving in.

I saw Brenda ahead and she stopped suddenly. i reached her and then realised why she'd stopped.

I looked in front of me to see Thomas knelt down beside Newt's dead body. Thomas looked as lifeless as Newt. It hurt to see it. I didn't even know these people. I felt tears well in my eyes as Thomas got up and left.

Brenda stood still, clearly in shock. I turned around to see Gally, Fry and the boy turn up. I looked back at Newt then back to the boys and all i could look at was the boy. He looked drained and tired, seeing Newt left him with nothing. He walked forwards and knelt down near Newt and Fry did the same.

I looked up at Gally to look in his eyes, all i saw was pain. I looked down at his hand and held it for support. He squeezed it ever so slightly as his eyes remained on Newt.

I looked over at Brenda and she was gone, she ran back the way we'd just came. The boy and fry still stayed next to Newt, the boy grabbed Newts hand and held it for a while.

A little while after the boy stood up and spoke. "We need to find Thomas." He said through silent tears.

I nodded, then noticed Fry still knelt besides Newt. I walked over to him and crouched down close to him.

"Fry, come on. He's watching you from up there now, he's always gonna be with you." He nodded slowly in response through his tear which were more visible that The other boys.

We both stood up, and i gave him a quick hug before we left Newt.

I looked back at Newt one last time.

Then we walked away, I wish i would've know Newt more. From what i knew him, he was an amazing guy. A guy who held everyone together. The glue
