Without a nose

XXII

We hurried back to the berg to be met with Jorge and Vinc. We all quickly got aboard and we waited for the door to seal shut. It was excruciatingly slow, as the metal hinges rubbed against one and other to make a ear bleeding noise. I held my hand to my ear so i didn't have to hear it, but the noise was so loud that i heard it still.

Once the door was sealed shut the berg lifted from the ground and took off to the sky. I tumbled into the guy, i still didn't know the name off.

"I'm sorry." I turned round and quickly said.

"Who are you?" He asked, starting me down.

"Erm, i'm Leah." I held my hand out for him to shake it, but instead he pulled me into a bro hug.

"I'm Minho." He weakly smiled. This was the boy who Thomas was trying so desperately to save.

As i looked up at him i saw hurt in his eyes. I guess now wasn't really a good moment for talking.

I hesitated before doing so but i leaned forward and pulled Minho into a hug. He looked like he needed it and i was proven correct when he hugged back tightly.

When we pulled away i saw him tearing up. I sat down on the floor of the berg and ushered him to do the same. When he did sit, the tears were on the verge of escaping.

"Minho look at me." He slowly put his head up to look at me. "I didn't know him very well, but i knew him enough to know that he wouldn't want you to do this, to blame yourself. He never blamed you, no one has or ever will. Newt want you to be who you are, you may think he's gone but he's not completely gone. He is always with you no matter what. And right now he's want you to be brave and go get Thomas back."

Minho looked down to his hands then back up to me. " I haven't even know you that look but your right. your shucken right." When he finished It looked like a light bulb had turned on and he stood up and wiped the tears from his eyes.

I stood up as-well.

"For Newt." I said to him.

"For Newt." He repeated with a smile, and i smiled back at him.

"I can see Thomas!" Jorge shouted suddenly, and immediately Brenda ran to open the hatch door even though we were still in the air.

As the hatch moved open more and more was being revealed from the scene outside. Fire was roaring all around Thomas and teresa who was with him. Almost everyone rushed forward to help, but it already looked over crowed and i didn't want to make things difficult.

I turned around to see all of the Immunes, they looked terrified.

"Hey, it's gonna be alright. You guys are safe now, Wicked can't hurt you guys anymore. I promise."

Some kids nodded, some smiled slightly, some didn't really do anything. But overall they looked less terrified from before.

"Erm, the tall guy gave me these and told me to guard them with my life, is there any where safe you can put them?" One boy asked shyly.

"Gally, the tall one. Yeah give them here and i'll put them safe." I smiled, in aim to look more friendly.

I took the bag from the boy and took it over to a safe place. At the walls of the Berg, there were compartments which had safe closing doors, so they'd be safe in there.

I turned back to see what was going on and i'd seen Thomas in the edge of the Berg and he looked hurt, and there was blood everywhere.

I looked back outside, noticing teresa was still out there. My heart skipped a beat when she didn't even try to get on the Berg. She stood there waiting for the building to fall.

The building collapsed and i saw her fall into the pit of fire and eventually into nothingness. My hand slammed into my mouth in utter shock, she was gone.
