Today was the day. I was finally leaving home to take the hunter exam. I was so excited, but nervous at the same time. I shouldn't be worried, I'm too good if I do say so myself. My stability, agility, and strength skills are through the roof. I'll be fine. I am an assassin after all.

Whatever. The point is, I'm going to pass the exam with flying colors. Although I'm doing this solely for the thrill of it, I'd also like to meet new people. Living and being alone didn't come only with benefits. Although I'm used to it, I'd really like to have someone to spend my time with every now and then, or just to keep in touch.

I leave my house and follow the path to the dock where the boat awaits.

A few moments later...

I make it just seconds before the ship sails, and I quickly make my way on it. I see a handful of people cheering on this kid. Probably around eleven or twelve. He wore an all-green outfit that matched his spikey hair, his bubbly personality complimenting the look. He also had a backpack with a fishing rod sticking out.

How adorable.

I walk past him while he waves at the small crowd below, and I sit in a corner where no one will bother me.

"Thanks, everybody. I'm going to be the best hunter in the world." I hear the boy say, still waving at the crowd.

My ears perk up as I hear a man laugh.

"The best hunter in the world huh?" I see the child turn around to whoever was speaking with him. I turn in the direction of the voice as well, and I raise an eyebrow.

"This kid thinks it'll be easy." Then another man continues.

"Every single year, millions of the world's most skilled applicants apply for the hunter exam. But only a handful make the cut. Be careful about saying stuff you can't back up, kid." Then more men begin to laugh. I furrow my eyebrows in annoyance and speak up.

"Hey! Leave the kid alone." I yell.

"And what are you gonna do about it huh?" This guy was getting on my nerves. I get up and charge at him, but instead of striking, I get behind and pull out a knife to his neck, and whisper in his ear aggressively.

"I said leave the kid alone. Got it?" I repeat more sternly, making sure he gets the message.

"Y-yes ma'am." He stutters.

"Next time I won't be pulling a knife to your neck, it'll go through you, so I suggest you keep your mouth shut for the rest of the ride." I slowly pull the knife away from the man and sit back down in my seat, leaving him shocked and terrified for his life. I also noticed everyone else, including the boy, staring at me with a panicked look.

What an idiot. Bullying little kids.

The rest of the day went...well not that interesting. Everyone stayed in their place and no one really knew each other so there wasn't much chit-chat going on.

After a few moments, I hear loud thunder clapping outside, and the ship begins to make unexpected turns.

A storm.

Everyone was flying left to right. Unfazed, I sat in a corner, not moving a bit. The look on everyone's face was priceless. They looked like they've all seen a ghost. I laughed it off until the ship began to calm down.

I look back up and see the group of people toppled onto each other. They looked sick.

And to think they could be hunters. Pathetic.

I sighed and continued to look around. Only three people looked like they were fine. A young man with blonde hair, and a bright blue coat-like thing on top of his beige-colored trousers. He laid on a hammock reading a book.
