The girl in the glade

Chapter 25

as you falling you grab onto a rope hoping it will soften your fall you land on the floor next to thomas and brenda your hands burn from the rope/cords you hear a screeching sound and look to find a huge pile of debris dropping down fast you stand up and watch the falling debris  when suddenly your ragged forwards onto the floor a little drop down about a step or two nothing major 

your lungs breath in the falling debris making you cough you can't see anything its pitch black brenda turns on a flashlight 

"are you okay" brenda asks

"oh, yeah, grate lizzie you good" thomas calls out

"just bloody peachy"

you replay you could say you where dripping in sarcasm you literally where brenda shines the light on the lift slash hole thing you came down the thing is completely blocked of you hope for your sake the is another way out you don't fancy dying down here you really wish you took that zipline right about now but no you had to follow thomas like an idiot didn't you 

"no, no how are we gonna get back to the others"

"by magic"

"lizzie you know has anybody ever told you that if you don't have anything useful to say don't say anything"

"am pretty sure thats not the saying"

"will you two stop bickering like a old couple" Brenda says

"She's not my " Thomas says

"sure looks like she is " 

"no really he dates my twin brother my boyfriend is well dead"

"i'm gonna get us out of here" brenda says

"here"

brenda throws a flashlight at you and you catch it barely you click it on and accidently shine it your eyes then thomas and he gives you a look as if to say really  which you found quite amusing 

"why are you helping us" thomas asks

"trust me, it's not my idea jorge seems to think you guys are our ticket to the safe haven"

"i don't believe in the safe haven thats where wicked said they would take us but really it seems like they were just killings us promised to take us to a safe haven farm. nothing i've seen or heared makes me think the right arm is any better" you say 

"the what" thomas says you could literally hear the disbelief in his voice guess he didn't believe in the safe haven either at this point 

"you know paradise safe from the sun free of infection" Brenda says 

"How can a place be free of the sun actually don't answer that" you say thinking back to the maze for a moment

"supposedly, the right arm's been taking kids there for years immunes, anyway"

you look at thomas you guys don't actually know if your immune for all you know none of you might be immune winston wasn't for all you know you might not be immune or newt or minho or thomas or teresa  

"so nobody actually knows if this place exists"

"no but jorge knows a guy Marcus he used to smuggle kids up into the mountains"

you watch as brenda walks forwards scanning the room with her flashlight for a way out of this wretched place that stunk like reeked of dust then again why would someone clean a place like this you take note of some of the objects lying on the floor a few old pallet trays with that brends picks up the pallet tray and lashes it aside you go to make a comment on what did that pallet tray ever do to her but decide against it your comments have only ever gotten you in trouble
