The heavens poured down its rage with screaming silence. Even the wind howled endless laments for the dead—dead promises, forgotten hopes, abandoned dreams.
It wasn't unusual from any other night, you kept escaping dark hallways that lead to nowhere.
None of the billions of stars floating above you noticed it, but I do. You are in grave pain. You are longing for something you haven't experienced right now— being appreciated for who you are.
You crave that warmth, as we all do. And, as if the cycle can't be reversed, it tormented you again.
No matter how hard you tried to resist, it kept calling out your name while crying at your door. Sadness, being a persistent ghost, will never leave a door closed. It will always find its way to get to you— to embrace you until you can no longer breathe.
Sadness is fond of uninvited visits. It knows no time nor boundary. Just like a rain in the middle of a scorching afternoon, even during your most blissful days, it'll slowly crawl into your space like your home is its home and your life is its life to control.
There are nights, like this, when you commit all you can to swim away. But still, you're slowly being drowned by the waves of uncertainties and doubts that they showered you— with which you believed was the truth. It was their truth, not yours.
You miss a stranger whom you haven't met before. Be it your dreams, people, or feelings. It sucks, doesn't it? Wishing to experience something you barely know.
But all will be alright, my love. In a couple of shakes, you'll be alright.
That's just how life works. It will make you stand up and continue the race even if you have no courage to take another step. Life will give you plenty of reasons to stop and let go but will haunt you with 'what ifs' each night you're alone.
But all will be alright. Before long, you'll be alright. You just need to disrupt this cycle.
Let's make this night a history—take courage.
You're exhausted, right? Then to the exclusion of everything else, for tonight, forfeit your battle with sadness. Let Sadness embrace you tonight.
Accept its presence and walk with it. Ask it why it knocks continuously at your door. Take it to places where only the two of you can explore. Understand where Sadness came from, where it lives, and what seems to be its reason for existence. What is Sadness? Who is Sadness? Where is Sadness? When is Sadness?
Soon, Sadness will reply and tell you that all it ever wished for was to be acknowledged. Once you've recognized Sadness, it will gladly wave its goodbye.
You might think that what I am stating is pure nonsense, but sometimes we only just have to welcome our storms for them to finally calm down We must get drowned in our ocean of tears to know that we are capable of riding the waves of life. We must lose our sight to perceive things even with our closed eyes.
We have to walk with our monsters, to shelter them, to hear their stories— to understand ourselves.
Let Sadness embrace you tonight, but after that, bid your goodbye.
You need to know how Sadness looks like for you to be able to avoid it. Stop visiting the places where Sadness used to hide. Once you've removed all of its thorns, its roots will eventually die.
Brave Soul, people tend to fall on the ground countless times, and for the nth time, they pick themselves up only to gamble for another downfall.
But,
from where we fall,
we learn to stand,
we learn to grow,
to bloom,
to fly,
to soar
higher
than
the
skies.
Every so often, we have to forfeit our battles to be gain ourselves back.
You fought hard—you took courage.
