Out of all the beautiful flowers in this world, why did I chose Daisy as an icon for this book?
(1) I AM YOU AS YOU ARE ME
Daisies are quite remarkable as they are considered to be composite flowers which basically means that it is a flower made up by combining two flowers; the yellow middle part (disk florets) and the long slender petals surrounding it (petal florets). In this book, the idea generally means that a human being comprises two flowers; one that freely blooms under the burning stares of the sun, and one that's waiting to be sheltered, embraced, and watered. Altogether, these two flowers comprises a never wilting one, that is you.
(2) EVEN ON LAND, YOU WILL ALWAYS SHINE
Daisies are part of the Asterceae family which translates to star; daisies are stars planted on land. With the aim of making the readers realize that no matter how many times they fall on the ground, they could always bloom and be the star of their own; reminding them of how they own different constellations inside their heads; that in between the dark crevices of life, they will always shine just like how a star conquered the darkest of skies.
(3) LOST CHILD
We all have a child inside us, and once we lost that child, we slowly run out of life— like a butterfly turning into a moth, we will still be able to fly, but monochromatic as it seems, we eventually grow tired and lie— painting a smile that turns upside down when we try. Celtic legend believed that Daisies are said to be the poured down on Earth by the Gods to uplift parents who lost their child. Sometimes, we are that parent who lost a child, we lose our youth by trying to run with the pressure and expectations as fast as we could. Just like how the daisies appease the pain of losing, may this book reunites us with the lost child within us.
