Authors Note :)

Heyyyyo, so I am making pretty good headway with my story and I will try to write as much as i can before going back to school monday, but once school starts I won't have as much time to write and upload

This is who I see as Thea -------------------------------------->

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Bye, Thea. Thanks for the ride home,” grabbing my bag and getting out of her car, I say goodbye and head towards my house.

“Ash!” I hear her call.

“Yeah?” I ask turning back towards her.

“I was wondering if you wanted to go on a double date with Tanner and I,” she asks.

“Are you nervous about going out with him alone tomorrow? Because if you are, maybe you shouldn’t go out with him,” I tell her, worried that she might get hurt.

“Oh, no; nothing like that. I just wanted to make sure you weren’t going to feel left out, with me going on dates and all,” she answers awkwardly.

“Of course not,” I tell her gently, “you are my best friend and I would never feel insecure about our relationship; as long as you promise to make some time for your dear old friend, Ashlyn.”

Giving me a playful nudge on the shoulder, she says, “I will always make time for my best friend.”

Hugging each other, we say our goodbyes and head off to our homes. In one hand I am holding my school bag and in the other I am trying to get my keys out of my purse to unlock the door, opening the door I am not prepared to see my Mother and Father frantically running around the house.

“What is going on,” I ask them slack-jawed at the messiness of the house.

“Your Mother and I were called to a very important dinner; we have to be there in a hour and it is a forty minute drive,” my Father answers quickly, throwing on his shoes and rapidly lacing them up.

“Honey, I am so sorry to ask this of you on such short notice, would you mind watching your Brother?”

Looking at my Mother and realizing her distress that I would say no to watching over him, I couldn’t help but immediately agree to babysit.

“Oh, thank you so much! I have already informed him that you will be in charge of him for the night; we should only be gone three hours, top, but if he misbehaves at all you are allowed to take away his privileges,” she says, giving me a kiss on the cheek. I watch her and my father as they rush out to the car and leave speedily from the driveway.

“Kasper? Can you come to the kitchen, please?” I shout up the steps, waiting until I hear his footsteps before heading into the kitchen myself.

“What do you want,” he asks moodily.

“I was wondering what you wanted for dinner,” I said to him before heading towards the pantry. “We can have spaghetti, lasagna, pizza—what are you in the mood for?"

“Can you make me a cheeseburger?” he asks, looking happier than he had when he first walked in.

“Of course, if that is what you want. Now, while I am making dinner, how about you go and start your homework? The food will be done in an hour,” getting the ingredients together, I make him cheeseburgers and homemade French fries. An hour later I call for Kasper to come and eat his dinner.

“Thanks Sis, it is really good,” he says, motioning to his cheeseburger.

“Oh, it was no problem Little Bro; I am just glad that you like it,” smiling across the table at each other, we finish our dinner in silence.

“Do you want to play a game before we get ready to go to bed?” I ask him, after cleaning up the kitchen, noticing that it was only 7:20 at night—we still had about two hours before getting ready for bed.

“I guess,” he says shrugging indifferently, “what game do you want to play?”

“We could play Mario Kart on the Wii?” I suggest.

“’Kay, but be prepared to lose,” he tells me cockily.

“We shall see, who will be the loser,” I reply back to him in a creepy Yoda voice.

------- An hour and a half Later -------

“You had to have been cheating,” I roar angrily at him, indignant about the fact that he had beaten me all night.

“Cheat? How do you cheat on Mario Kart?” he answers back, equally angry that I have accused him of cheating.

“I don’t know how you did it; all I know is that you did!” I tell him, putting away the game console and cleaning up the mess that we had made in the living room while playing.

“Yeah right, you are just a sore loser,” he declares just before stomping up the stairs and slamming the door to his room. After checking to make sure that all of the doors and windows are locked, I go upstairs to my personal bathroom; I take a shower and get dressed in a long t-shirt and a pair of spandex shorts for bed.

Walking out into the hallway towards my bedroom, I decide to detour and check on Kasper just to make sure he is okay. Hesitantly knocking on the door, I hold my breath—waiting to see if he will let me in or tell me to go away.

“What?” Kasper says with a hostile tone to his voice.

“Kasper, I was just playing with you; I know that you didn’t cheat. In fact, I let you win,” I tell him with a smirk.

“Oh, you let me win. Well than, how about this? Rematch, tomorrow after school,” not about to admit to my little Brother that he had actually demolished me during the game, I agree. Having given him a kiss on the forehead and telling him to have ‘sweet dreams’ I decide to also get some sleep; promising myself that I would have some fun of my own tomorrow, killing some vampires.

A/N: I hope that you enjoy this chapter :)

I wasn't actually going to have Ashlyn have any siblings (making her an only child), but then I decided that a little brother would add some flare to her home life.

Tell me if you think I made a good choice giving her a brother

Until we meet again,
