“Well, that was a stressful dinner,” I say, flopping onto my bed.
“You got that right,” Thea says while following my lead—except she spices it up a little more, by taking a running start and practically dive bombing my bed.
“I would be much obliged if you didn’t break my bed,” I tell her sarcastically, climbing underneath the covers and waiting for Thea to do the same, before turning the lights off.
“Night, Ash.”
“Goodnight, Thea,” I say, turning onto my side and looking out of my window; falling asleep, the last thing I see is the play of shadows dancing across my wall.
“Wake up, Honey,” opening my eyes I see my Mom standing above me, with a smile on her face.
“Good morning,” I say, before stretching and getting out of my nice and toasty bed.
“Are you going to wake Thea up?” she asks.
“No, I will let her sleep until I get out of the bathroom; that way I won’t have to rush to get out of the shower,” picking my clothes out for today, I head into the bathroom, and get ready for yet another day of school.
Fresh out of the shower, I wake up Thea and tell her that she has to start getting ready for school. Then walking down to the dining room, I give Kasper an obnoxious kiss on the cheek, and wish my Father a good morning before giving both he and my Mom a kiss.
“You still want to come running with me after school, don’t you?” I ask Kasper so that I can know whether or not to wait for him.
“Yeah, I am excited to meet this friend of yours,” he says, wagging his eyebrows suggestively.
“Friend? What friend?” my Father asks, worried.
“He’s only a friend, Dad, you don’t have to worry about me hanging out with him,” I say, before glaring at Kasper.
“I would still like to talk to him, just so he knows not to mess with my little girl or he will have to go through me,” my Father says intimidatingly, cracking his knuckles.
“Like I said you don’t have to worry, but if you really want to talk with him I will ask him to come over today before we go out running,” I tell him, hoping to erase any concerns that my Father is holding.
“I will be waiting, then,” he says, then getting back to reading his newspaper and sipping on his coffee.
As soon as Thea walks into the dining room, I hand her a plate of food, and rush her out the door; yelling to my Mom that we have to study for a huge exam, though that is not true.
“You have another exam today?” Thea asks, confused because she hadn’t seen me studying at all yesterday.
“No, I just had to get out of there,” not giving her an explanation, we head off to school.
Not unsurprisingly, nothing of importance happened at school today; seeing as it was almost summer time, and my senior year, I had no homework or anymore exams to study for.
“I guess I will see you tomorrow, then,” Thea says, before getting into her car and driving off in the direction of her house.
Walking over to where the bus was loading up, I get on and sit down in an unoccupied—not wanting to socialize right now. Almost at my house, I begin to text Kolby.
Hey, would you mind coming by my house today—before we go running? My Dad wants to speak to you ----- Ashlyn
Sure. Do you know why he wants to talk to me? ----- Kolby
