“That was such a good movie. Did you like that movie, Ashlyn? I liked the movie, a lot; what did you think about it Kolby? Wasn’t it the best movie, ever?” Kasper asks, his questions being fired off as if he is a machine gun and we are his targets.
“It was okay,” I say jokingly, but Kasper clearly didn’t understand that as he looks over at me with a scandalized expression.
“Well,” Kolby says, trying to draw Kasper’s attention away from me, “I thought that was a great movie. I am actually considering going out and buying the movie, once it gets out on DVD.”
“When’s your birthday?” Kasper asks, smiling so widely at Kolby that I was afraid his cheeks were going to crack.
“It’s on April 3rd,” he says, ushering us across the road towards his car.
“Ashlyn, why didn’t you tell me?” Kasper shouts at me, “Your birthday is only a couple of days away and I haven’t gotten you a present.”
“You don’t have to get me a present, Buddy,” Kolby says with an adoring smile towards Kasper.
“I want to though and it is going to have to be really good,” Kasper says, finally going quiet as he gets into the car and starts to think about what to get Kolby.
“Do you want to stop and get dinner before heading back?” Kolby asks me after we are all buckled into our seats.
“Umm,” looking back at Kasper I ask, “are you hungry?”
“Yeah,” he says simply, turning away from me after.
“Sure, dinner sounds good,” I tell Kolby, trying to keep a huge grin off of my face.
“Where do you want to go?” he asks, looking at me from the corner of his eye-- thankfully, not taking his eyes off of the road.
“Anywhere is fine with me,” I say to him.
“Women, they never can just say where they want to eat,” Kolby says sarcastically, “What about you Kasper, where do you want to eat?”
“Maybe, we could go somewhere for pizza?” Kasper says timidly.
“That sounds good; all for say yay…” Kasper enthusiastically shouts ‘Yay!’ while I sit quietly against the window, “all opposed say nay.”
“Nay,” I jokingly say, not actually bothered by the thought of pizza.
“Looks like we all agree on pizza,” Kolby says, the only acknowledgment of hearing my comment was a small glance in my direction out of the corner of his eye.
After we finished eating our pizza, Kasper obnoxiously chewing on a slice of pepperoni, we all pile back into Kolby’s car. I few minutes later I notice that we are back at my house, I tell Kasper to thank Kolby for coming along with us to the movies when I see that he is going to get out of the car without saying anything.
“I had really fun time with you, Kolby; maybe we could hang out again some other time?” Kasper asks shyly, looking at Kolby with a hopeful expression.
“Of course, just have Ashlyn call me when you want to hangout,” when he says this to Kasper, I can feel my eyes shining with admiration.
“Okay, see you soon,” giving a small wave, Kasper rushes out of the car and runs into the house.
