I awaken in my pillar, the place still dark. I blink my heavy eyelids open, sleep still rolling throughout my mind. I open my mouth to yawn, only to be met with a pain so harmful it feels as if my jaw has been pulled apart.

I yell out, a loud, guttural sound. I blink back the tears that are threatening to escape my eyes, and close my jaw, pressing my lips tight among my pain. My hand moves down to the white nightshirt that I wear, fidgeting with the light, coarse fabric.

My breathing, ragged and heavy, most likely from the pain I just endured. The oak door of my turret opens, light streaming in as Eret rushes in.

"Oh, good, you're awake finally. You passed out almost immediately when Purpled let go of you, you were out for a while," his calming voice fills my room, slightly panicked, but also thickened with worry.

A smile grows on my lips, and I look the man in the face, his glasses blocking me from seeing his eyes. He awkwardly chuckles, "Oh yeah, you probably can't, and most likely don't want to, speak because of that jaw. Who knew dirt could pack such a punch?"

I sigh out my nose, shaking my head at the brunette. He puts a hand against my forehead, mumbling something to himself. "Y/N, is your forehead normally very cold?" he asks, seriousness etched into the fine line that his slight frown creates.

I think to all the times I've actually touched my forehead, remembering the icy feeling. I nod, a small, unlikely to work idea popping into my head.

"-Do you understand sign language?-" I sign, looking at the man.

"Vaguely, but I can get Ponk to translate for me, and I'll get to learn it, too," he responds, a smile gracing his dignified features.

"-Okay. Good luck learning-" I sign, sitting up among my blankets, and smiling at the now eye level man.

"Thank you Y/N for the good wishes, I'm assuming you can do everything else on your own, just make sure to be careful with that jaw," Eret tells me, patting my head and turning to the door. In response I nod, waving as he exits the small building.

Now what. I should get ready for the day before anything, actually.

I stand, stretching my body. I take care when slipping my shirt off, being sure not to further damage my jaw. I do the same when putting on my shirt, but otherwise go through my morning routine as normal. I open the door to my small place in the wall, surprised to see that it's just past noon.

How long was I passed out for? I'll ask Eret when we're both home.

I descend the sleek, hand chiselled stairs and onto the wood of the main path, on my way to hang about at the Community House. Maybe I could meet the Callahan person that Eret was talking about, maybe they're nice.

I make swift time getting to the Community House, the wooden building quite except for the sounds of nature. I climb up the stairs to the roof, and dangle my legs from the ledge as I sit. The sun warms me with her strong rays, and I close my eyes, enjoying the warmth.

Some time passes, I'm not sure how long, but my eyes flutter open to the sound of footsteps approaching down the path. I forget the fact that I can't talk, let alone open my mouth without pain, and almost do so.

My eyes flit down to the person, a masculine looking figure with ram horns. I leap down from the roof in one swoop, feet away from the person.

"Jesus Christ! You scared me," the person says with a gruff, almost deep voice, filled with hardship, confidence, violence and determination.

"-Sorry, do you understand me sir?-"

His brown, almost goat-like eyes flick up to meet mine, a small smile on his light face. "I understand you miss, the name's Schlatt, by the way. What's your name?" he tells me, his tone softer, but still filled with the strong feelings from earlier.

"-I'm Y/N. I just broke my jaw enough for me to not talk, but I should be able to talk soon. Maybe see you around Schlatt?-"

The man nods, reaching out to shake my hand. "It'll be a pleasure getting to know you Y/N. And next time, be a bit more careful, okay?" he pats my back before continuing on his way in the direction of L'Manburg, a left from the Holy Land he was coming from.

Seems like a decent guy. I hope that we can get to be better friends.

I head back up to the roof, laying on my back, watching the sun as she makes her steady way up the sky, just past her peak. I breath in the air, the scent in the transition from spring to summer, wisps of hay mingled with wet from the pond.

(IM SORRY I DONT WANNA MAKE A SHORT CHAPTER BUT I CANT THINK IF ANYTHING TO FINISH THIS ONE SO NEXT ONE IS LIKE A WEEK FROM NOW OKAY CYA)
