chapter 28

A few hours later:
Addie and I went to get some food after we called Derek's mother and sisters. We didn't want to go far so we just ate in the cafeteria.

It was very quiet. Neither of us really had anything to say we just wanted to be with each other. Addie reached her hand over to mine and ran her thumb over my knuckles.

"I love you Meredith Grey" she whispered with a tear rolling down her face. "I love you too Addison Montgomery" I whispered back squeezing her hand.

"You know when I told Amelia I could hear her break. Amelia is like my sister and I know her so well and I could just hear it in her voice. I don't know what I'm going to do when she gets here" Addie said looking down.

"Well you'll be there for her and be ready to comfort her. Addie you'll  know what to do" I tried to reassure her "But I-" 

"Addie you are the best person to run to in a crisis. You always have the right words and give the best hugs and are just a caring person" I interrupted "I really really love you princess" she said wiping her tears with the other hand.

Our pagers went off "His family must be here" Addie said since it was a page to the lobby "Let's go" i said standing up, pulling her with me.

We walked into the lobby hand in hand receiving confused looks from all of Derek's family except Amelia. 

Addies pov:

I never told Amelia I was with a girl but Amelia wasn't the type to be weird about it. I was honestly pretty sure Amelia wasn't the straightest but I didn't want to assume.

Amelia ran to me even though she was an adult now she will always be the kid sister I never had. I let go of Meredith's hand so could pull her into a tight hug.

"I missed you Addie" she whispered in my ear while hugging me even tighter. "I missed you to Amy" I whispered back as I saw Meredith walk over to Derek's mother.

Meredith's pov:

While Addie was giving Amelia a hug I walked over to Derek's mother. She looked very nice but I had never actually met her before so I was honestly a little nervous.

"Hello Ms. Shepherd, I'm Meredith Grey" I introduced myself "So your the Meredith I've heard so much about. Your his girlfriend right?" she asked looking into my eyes.

"No I am not Derek girlfriend" I said fidgeting with my hands "Oh I'm sorry I thought you were still together" she said while the other 3 of his sisters watched the conversation.

"Oh it's okay. We were together while he was married but he didn't tell me and I didn't think a relationship would work if it was based on a lie" i explained.

"So why did you you walk in holding hands with Addison?" Derek's sister Nancy asked "Well Addison and I are together now" I said as Addison and Amelia joined the conversation.

Addie snaked her arm around my waist and pulled me close "How long have you and Addison been together?" Ms. Shepherd asked not looking phased.

"Um quite awhile now, I think it was a little after Derek and I split" Addie said letting me rest my head on her shoulder.

"Well who am I to judge. If that's what makes you happy than who am I to stop you. Anyways I would like to see my son now" Ms. Shepherd stated matter of factually.

We led her up to the ICU receiving many judgmental looks from Derek's other three sisters while Amelia walks next to Addie and I.

"So how did you end up with the hot mistress?" Amelia asked so quietly only Addie and I could hear. While I looked shocked Addie answered "Honestly I don't know but like she is really really hot" making me smack her arm.
