Neil Perry=-It was right before the first show of the spring play. He was in his dressing room, getting ready and waiting for his curtain call. You went to visit Neil to wish him good luck and give him a kiss before the show started
-You opened the door and saw him reading, trying to calm himself down because he was obviously nervous. You ran up behind him and bent over his shoulders, holding him against your chest and kissing his cheek. He blushed and held your hands. You asked him if he was nervous and if he was okay. He said he was mostly excited which made you happy. He looked at you two in the reflection of the mirror like he had something to say. You waited but then your timer went off on your waist. Show time. You picked him up and walked him to the side of the stage, kissing his lips, telling him to break a leg
-You watched from the wings, helping get sets and props ready for the next scene. You paused to watch Neil during one scene. The play was 'All My Sons' and Chris Keller was Neil's role, the main character. Well one of them. There was one scene where Chris hashes it out with his father... fighting. Neil actually had trouble doing this scene during rehearsals so you just wanted to see how he was going to pull this off
-Neil could see you in the wigs out of his peripheral vision. That made him feel more comfortable for some reason. Took his mind off the fact there was a packed theater of people judging and watching him, and the fact his parents might be somewhere in the audience
-Neil and the other boy in the theater company began to play this scene out. Your heart raced as you watched Neil. He was doing brilliant the entire play and you didn't want this scene to kill his confidence if he got it wrong. He didn't get it wrong though. Well, he did, but not in a bad way. He went off script at the finale of the scene, dragging it out an extra minute. At first, the other boy who played his father, didn't know what was going on. This caused an awkward moment of silence between the two boys. But to you and the audience... the silence was one of agony and pure emotional, making you want to see and hear more. "YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MY FATHER DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?"
-That line was made up on the spot by Neil. That's when the awkward silence followed. The silence brought you to tears. It just made the scene more raw, emotional, gut wrenching. Neil's true emotion that you had been wanting to see the entire scene, finally arrived. Neil wasn't screaming to another boy in the theater company. That boy became his actual father. The silence made Neil nervous so he looked up at you, making sure what he did was okay. It was more than okay. You loved it. You loved him. That's when you mouthed to him 'I love you'. He had to hold back a giant smile. He was still in a scene
-After the play, after the final curtain bow, you went to find Mr. Keating and the gang so you could all wait for Neil. As you waited, you saw that neither of Neil's parents were there. Typical. You at least wished his father was there so he could see what he really did to Neil. But maybe it was better Mr. Perry wasn't there
-Neil ran out to all of you. Mr. Keating and the boys let you see Neil first. Neil ran to you and you ran to him. He picked you up and spun you around. You screamed, 'YOU DID AMAZING!' You still had some tears in your throat and eyes, feeling emotional from Neil's performance. He kissed your lips and took the bouquet of roses you had bought for him. 'THANK YOU! I got nervous after the silence but it worked out. Oh and I love you too, my moonlight.' He said, placing you down. Then the boys all ran to you guys and tackled you with hugs, telling you that you directed a beautiful play, and telling Neil he stole the show
