I am so sorry for not updating this book frequently. Some of the Covid restrictions in my town have finally been lifted and has kept me busy for quite some time. Also, I have been more focused on my Newt x Reader series rather than this One Shot book. But now that the first book in my series is completely rewritten and finished, I will be focusing more on this book.
I really hope that y'all can understand, and I will do my best to post a couple more chapters before randomly disappearing again!
Also, I'll try to get "A Dream (Part 2)" out in the next couple of days.

"I don't know how to tell him." I admit to Brenda, and she looks down to her hands that were placed in her lap. "Well, he's going to find out eventually, you might as well do it now."
It's been a month since we've arrived at the Safe Haven, and everything has been running smoothly so far. Escaping the Last City was one of the hardest things I have ever been through, but finding out that I had been infected with the Flare didn't make things any better.
The only people that know about my infection are Brenda, Thomas, Jorge, and Vince. I'm lucky that Vince has changed his ways and hasn't kicked me out yet, he knows how much I mean to these people, but he also knows how much risk there is with me alive.
"Has it gotten any worse?" Brenda asks, breaking the silence. "Of course, it's not slowing down at all. But we both know that the serum isn't an option right now."
Two days ago, Thomas was forced to leave the Safe Haven with Minho, Gally, and Frypan. There had been rumors of another camp on the other side of the mountains, and they were the ones chosen to go and check it out.
When we first arrived to the Safe Haven, we had plenty of access to the serum. Most of it was stolen from WICKED, but the only one that could work like magic was from Thomas' blood.
Due to Vince knowing about my infection, he had offered the serum to me before anyone else was allowed it. But I always declined his offer.
There were thousands of people in this Haven that needed the serum more than me, and I couldn't bear the thought of them fully turning into cranks when I had chosen to take the first dose for myself. So I declined Vince's offer, and I waited.
But unfortunately, we had less serum than we thought.
And now, a month later. I'm stuck, turning into a crank with no way to stop it.
Releasing myself from my thoughts, I let out a breath and face Brenda again. "I think it's time. Waiting around for Thomas to get back won't help with anything, I have to tell Newt."
Brenda tilts her head at my words, and I know that she can see how hesitant I'm being with the whole thing. "Are you sure? I mean, we honestly don't know how long you have left. You could wait for Thomas if you wanted to, it wouldn't hurt to-" I cut her off.
"No Brenda, I don't have much time left. With every second that passes, I can feel this stupid virus running through my veins as it slowly takes away my sanity. I can't wait for Thomas..."
I stop mid-sentence, thinking about my next words and if it's the right thing to do. But I honestly have no choice, there's nothing left for me at this point. I've lived my life, and I can't escape this. "...I need to die."

Brenda was shocked by my words, distraught, you could say. But I explained to her why I thought this, and she, although reluctantly, agreed with me.
