Chapitre 4 : The Meeting

CHAPTER 4 : THE MEETING

Its been a few minutes since Feather and Nothing met this strange bird 'Zazu' as he called himself. Right now, they were following the Hornbill to meet a certain 'King Simba'. As they walked, Nothing was hoping this Pride would accept them. She still feared that the Mane would chase them away from his territory or kill them both.

Feather, for his part, was a bit excited by the idea of seeing another Pride than his Birth one back in the Sisters' Steppe. Maybe if they were allowed to stay , he could play with the other cubs ? It would be nice to have some friends.

Zazu was still flying above them , leading these two strangers to his King. The Hornbill knew those two were harmless the second he saw their conditions : after all, both of them were exhausted but the cub was in better condition than the Lioness (which the bird assumed that was his mother ) who was thin and had what seemed like a broken leg. Who would take pity of those two ?

"Huh Mr. Bird ?" Feather asked loudly as he looked at the Hornbill who eyed him questioningly "Yes young one ?" "How long before we reach this 'King Simba' ?" "Not too long in fact..." The Bird said as he eyed Priderock in the distance. Nothing and Feather caught sight of the large Rock structure in front of them and their eyes widened in amazement. Zazu saw their reaction and explained "This is Priderock ! Its where King Simba and the Pride reside !" Feather exclaimed loudly "Cool ! " Nothing couldn't believe her dream was true but still, she never thought she would find a place that amazing. It was almost like a dream.

"Come one let's keep going !" The Hornbill ordered as he flied toward the structure and the two Lions had no choice but to follow him. "Hey Nothing ? Do you think this 'King Simba' will accept us ?" "I hope so Feather... "the disabled Lioness sighed as she walked beside her cousin . When the little group reached 'Priderock' as the bird called it, they were greeted by a Lioness-cub and a cream-furred adult Lioness . This cub had an orange -creamed fur with reddish-brow eyes. Her underbelly, paws and muzzle are cream in color. The cream Lioness , for her part , had turquoise eyes.

The turquoise-eyed Lioness was the first one to notice the group and smiled "Hello Zazu who are these two ?" The Hornbill landed in front of the Lioness before bowing in respect (which surprised Nothing and Feather greatly) "My Queen these two were trespassing on our land ! And when I told them about the King , they wanted to meet him so I led them here" the Bird explained in respect. The Lioness nodded before looking at the two "I'm Nala Queen of the Pridelands ! Who are you ?". The disabled Lioness took a step forward before responding "I'm Nothing and this is my cousin Feather. We are sorry for intruding....We didn't know that another Pride lived here..." "Its alright don't worry about this !" Nala said with a smile.

Nothing and Feather smiled back at the cream Lioness. Suddenly, the Orange cub appeared from behind Nala and watched the two "Hello my name's Kiara " she said with a smile. Nothing's eyes widened : this female cub had a name ! In her pride, Lionesses got a name only after passing their Huntress assessment ! "Kiara please go fetch your father while I talk with these two...." The cream Lioness inquired the orange cub gently "Yes Mom" Kiara said as she ran away to find her father.

Nala watched her go before looking back at the two "So if you don't mind me asking....Why are called Nothing ? " The disabled Lioness became sad "Well.....Where we came from, Lionesses got a name after passing their Huntress Assessment... My mother gave me this name because I can't do anything..." Nala looked at the sad Lioness with a frown but before she could say something , another voice echoed from behind her "I'm sorry to hear that...".

Nothing and Feather looked over to see who talked and their eyes widened when they saw a large Male Lion with a russet mane and brownish-gold fur. His bright eyes had red irises and yellow scleras.The Male was followed by more Lionesses who looked at the newcomers with curiosity. Nothing was a bit scared when she heard this Male's voice but she calmed down when he saw he was smiling at them. "I'm Simba King of the Pridelands ! And I heard you were called Nothing and Feather right ?" The two nodded in response.

"As I said we didn't mean to intruder your territory sir ! We traveled for a long time... " Feather said sadly but then the great Red Maned Lion chuckled "Don't worry little one I won't hurt any of you." "Is it possible to join your Pride sir ?" Nothing asked hesitantly and Simba looked at them both before looking at Nala who nodded. " Of course you can join my Pride and Welcome in the Pridelands you two"

"Thank you sir ! Thank you very much " the disabled Lioness said with relief as she gazed at the Male with relief "Just call me Simba....I'm not formal like the other Kings " The Red Maned Lion said with a chuckle

Suddenly Kiara's cheers echoed "YEAH ! I FINALLY HAVE PLAYMATE !" All Lions present laughed loudly. Nothing then looked at Simba "So what is a 'King' ?"

Everyone looked at her as if she had two heads or something "What do you mean ?" Nala asked with a raise-brow "Where we came from.... The Male who lead us is called a Mane.... And he had to protect the Pride from No-Manes ".

Simba and his Pride were still looked at the two with confusion "Well it seems we had different cultures... But right now let's go eating and then enjoying a restful night" The King announced and everyone nodded in agreement even Nothing and Feather. They followed the Pride who soon feast on a large Buffalo. Surprisingly, no one mocked Nothing for her leg which surprised her greatly. Feather was eating happily and he was secretly eying Kiara who was not too far. Nothing noticed the look in Feather's eyes and retained herself from laughing.

When the Pride finished eating, all Lions entered a large den and their new members were surprised by the cave's size. It was big enough to fit all of them ! Nothing chose a nice spot against a cave wall and Feather pressed himself against her side while Simba , Nala and Kiara laid at the end of the cave asleep. Nothing couldn't believe her luck : a Pride had accepted her AND Feather ! She was thinking about their reactions when she told them how things were in their home : they were all surprised and confused.

"Nothing ? " The disabled Lioness looked at Feather who was looking at her with a smile "Everything would be okay for now....right ?" Nothing nodded as she looked at her cousin "Yes everything would be okay from now on" With a yawn, Feather closed his eyes before falling asleep against his cousin's side. However the disabled Lioness staid awake a little longer as she gazed at the entrance of the den. She was thinking about everything that happened in the past days : she was exiled from her former Pride by Proudmane, then Feather came along , both of them traveled in the Prideless Stretch....and now they had a Pride again. It seemed like a dream and Nothing wished that she wouldn't wake up if this was the case. With a content smile, she putted her head on her fore-paws before closing her eyes and falling asleep.

Things would be okay from now on. She just knew it.
