Chapter 5 : Circle of Life and Babysitting

Two weeks passed since Feather and Nothing were allowed to live in the Pridelands and the two grew accustomed to their new life. During the time they passed here so far, they got to learn the way of life of this new Pride which had some differences with the way their birth Pride lived back in the Sisters' Steppe. The two were a bit surprised by the way those Lions lived but soon they managed to adapted.

Nothing was loved by every member of the Pride and was a good friend with Nala , the Queen while Feather (who was also loved by the entire Pride) became Kiara's best friend as the two were always together. The Princess was overjoyed to have a playmate since she was the only cub of the Pride.

The disabled Lioness grew some meat on her bones after days of starvation back when she and Feather were still wandering the Prideless Stretch. The two ex-Strangers even got to meet Rafiki , an Old Mandrill, who was a really close friend of the Royal Family. They even got to meet Timon and Pumbaa , a Meerkat and Warthog respectively who were Simba's close friends . Confused and shocked at first by seeing Lions befriending preys, the two quickly warmed up to them. Timon and Pumbaa taught the Red Cub about their way of Life : Hakuna Matata.

Of course during their first days in the Pridelands, Simba questioned them about their old home and Nothing told him what he wanted to know : to the death of her father by Quickmane's claws to their banishment. The Red Maned Lion was a bit sad about her story and he assured them that they would be safe here in the Pridelands which Nothing was really grateful.

Right now, Nothing was laying on a rock watching as Kiara and Feather were playing Tag together. Smiling with amusement, she saw Simba approaching them "Hello Nothing how are you ?" The King just came back from a little business he had to deal with "I'm fine Simba as did Feather..." the disabled Lioness responded and the two adults looked at the cubs with a smile. Then the Red Maned Lion looked back at her "Do you know what the Circle of Life is Nothing ?" he asked her with a raise-brow.

The disabled Lioness frowned when she looked at the Male questioningly . She had heard this words many times during her time here but she didn't know what was this 'Circle of Life' "No....What is that ?" Kiara and Feather stopped their game because they heard Simba's question and Feather was also curious about what this Circle of Life was

The Red Maned Lion sighed before gently explaining "Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the herbivores eat the grass. And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life because all creatures had a role to play in Life "

Nothing's and Feather's eyes were wide in shock as they processed what Simba just told them. They never thought all Creatures were connected by this concept. "I know you are confused but with the time you will understand " The King inquired gently and the two nodded in agreement.

Kiara , who was silent the whole time, grinned as she pounced on Feather who found himself pinned down "Pinned yah~" the Princess cooed triumphantly before jumping away. The Red Cub with blue eyes smirked back playfully as he chased after her while the two adults chuckled at the scene before them. "They love each other don't they ?" Nothing asked Simba who nodded in agreement before announcing "Alright let's go back to Priderock...." "Awwwww please Daddy can't we just keep playing ?" Kiara begged her father with cute puppy eyes . Feather too looked at the King expectantly.

After a moment of silence, the Russet-maned Lion sighed "Alright but you must stay under Nothing's sight " "Promise ! She is better than Uncle Timon and Uncle Pumba anyway " she muttered the last part to herself but Feather heard her and snickered. Simba then looked at Nothing " Good luck with my daughter" "I think I can manage Simba ! I deal with Feather and his sisters so TWO cubs" the disabled Lioness replied with a devious grin "Come on Nothing we weren't THAT bad !" "Of course ! You were WORSE !"

Kiara and Simba laughed loudly when Feather glared at his cousin who smiled innocently "Alright I will leave you three be then....Be good to Nothing Kiara !" "Yes Daddy !" the Orange she-cub responded as her father disappeared from sight. Then Kiara looked at Nothing with adoration : during the two weeks the two ex-strangers lived in the Pridelands, Kiara took a liking to the disabled Lioness and when she learnt about how she got her scars , the Princess was completely in awe.

Nothing , for her part, liked the Princess as she reminded her of herself before Starmane's death. The Princess that Nothing should be her babysitter instead of Timon and Pumbaa. Simba was a bit hesitant at first but when the Red Maned Lion got to know Nothing a bit more , he accepted. But secretly, he still sent his two friends after her daughter , not that he didn't trust Nothing but....her injuries were a handicap if an Outlander attacked them so having those two spying on them was a good option.

"What do we do now ?" Feather asked to break the silence "I want to see the Outlands !" Nothing's eyes widened : Nala told her about this place and who lived there warning her it was a dangerous area. "Kiara I don't think its a good idea... What about you and Feather play another game ?" The two cubs groaned but they nodded. The two then decided to do friendly fight and Nothing watched them in case something happened.

Suddenly two voices echoed behind her and she turned around to see Timon and Pumbaa arguing about something. "Stay there " The disabled Lioness ordered the two before approaching the arguing duo "What's going on here ?" she asked them with a frown " Hey Nothing ! I was just telling this Pig that crunchy bugs where better than slimy ones !" "You got it wrong Timon ! Slimy ones are better !" Then the two argued again "Slimy !" "Crunchy !" "Slimy !" "Crunchy !" " SLIMY !" "CRUNCHY !"

While the two were arguing and Nothing watching them, Kiara looked at Feather with malice "Hey let's go..." "Where ?" "To the Outlands !" "Yeah lets go..." Feather replied with a smile and the two sneaked away to run toward their destination.

When Nothing decided she had enough of this stupid argument, she looked back toward the cubs....only to see that they weren't there anymore " KIARA ? FEATHER ? WHERE ARE YOU ?!" She asked loudly as she looked around.

Then she remembered Kiara's wish earlier about going into the Outlands and her eyes widened in horror when she understood that the cubs were probably there right now ! "Timon ! Pumbaa ! Please I need your help !" "What do you need ?" Pumbaa asked with concern "You go warn Simba that the cubs are going in the Outlands and I'm going after them ! Now GO !" The disabled Lioness ordered hurriedly and the two Insectivores ran away toward Pridelands while Nothing was running as best as she could (she had only three valids paws after all ) toward the Outlands

"Oh Goddesses... I hope I'm not too late !" she prayed softy as she ran to find the missing cubs in the Outlands.
