1997
"I'm heading back to the hotel with Chris." Stevie leaned in to whisper in Lindsey's ear. Everyone had already had a few drinks in them, it was hard to hear.
"I'll go with you." Lindsey pushed back his chair, but she shook her head.
"No, you don't have to. Stay. You've been by my side day and night, you've earned some time off." She smiled and pressed a lingering kiss to his lips. "I'll be fine. I'm going straight to bed as soon as I get to our room anyway."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." Stevie insisted, pecking him on the lips again. "Enjoy it while you can. Soon it's gonna be sleepless nights and dirty diapers."
Lindsey grinned, squeezing her hand under the table. "I can't wait."
The heavy sigh from Christine behind them sped up their goodbye. Soon, the two women were taken from the restaurant back to the hotel the band was staying for the night. They arrived shortly and walked together to their rooms, stopping by Stevie and Lindsey's to say goodnight.
The exhaustion hit Stevie like a ton of bricks the second she entered the room. The tour was nearing the end, she couldn't have possibly expected for it to become so difficult. She didn't exactly think, she was going to get pregnant during it. She doubted that she would have been able to do it alone, but she had Lindsey and he had been wonderful since the good news was confirmed by the doctor. He absolutely deserved to enjoy some time off from tending to her every need with the guys.
"A toast!" Mick raised his voice over the separate conversations going on across the table. "Who knew, this reunion was going to bring back more than Fleetwood Mac together." He stuck his hand out and clinked glasses with Lindsey.
"Everybody knew." Usually the quiet one, John joked.
The time flew by. The men lost count of the drinks ordered. They were no match for their younger selves of course, but the amount of the tab grew larger seemingly by minutes, not hours.
"I'll be right back." Lindsey excused himself to go to the bathroom.
A blonde sat alone at the bar. She'd kept her eye on the famous group and their less recognizable backup musicians throughout the night. She attended the show hours earlier and her eyes sparkled, looking at the lead guitarist, who was considered to be fit and handsome by many female admirers to this day. Lindsey smiled at her politely as he passed by her.
"When did I order another one?" Lindsey looked at the waiter, placing a glass of scotch in front of him.
"The young woman over there-" He pointed subtly. "She says, good evening."
"Uh-oh, mate." Mick shook his head. "Stevie wouldn't appreciate that."
"Well, I can't just ignore her nice gesture." Lindsey shrugged and got back up to his feet, suddenly feeling the effect of the alcohol rather strongly, once he stood up. "I'm just gonna thank her."
Mick gave him a pointed look, but Lindsey didn't catch it on his way over to that same blonde, he'd passed by earlier.
"I didn't expect you'd actually come and say, hello." She smiled at Lindsey.
"Uh, yeah." He laughed nervously, leaning against the bar top. "Just wanted to thank you for that drink, but uh-"
"Would you like to sit down?" She interrupted, holding her hand out. "I'm Kristen, by the way."
"Nice to meet you, Kristen, but I'll be going back to my friends." Lindsey shook her hand, she didn't let go of his right away. "You see, I've got a pregnant girlfriend waiting for me. She wouldn't like finding out about this very much."
"Finding out about what?" Kristen cocked her head to one side. "We're just talking."
"Yeah, talking has gotten me in trouble before." Lindsey grinned drunkenly, swaying on his feet slightly.
"She's keeping you on a short leash, huh?"
"No, it's not like that." He shook his head. "Stevie loves me, I love Stevie."
"But it doesn't make you any less of a rockstar, does it?"
Lindsey enjoyed his ego stroked by a beautiful young fan and he smiled at her again. "I'm an old rockstar, you know. All of that is behind me."
"Does it really have to be?" She crossed her legs and leaned forward, Lindsey's eyes lowered to her breasts, practically spilling out of the top of her dress.
"God, he's an idiot." Mick muttered, shaking his head, having seen enough. In just a few big strides, he approached the pair and lay his hand on Lindsey's shoulder. "Come on, mate. I'm sure, you've managed to say, thank you, already."
"We're just talking, Mick." Lindsey attempted to shrug his hand off, but Mick's grip tightened, he sighed. "Alright, alright."
With Lindsey safely seated at the table again, Mick kept glancing over at the woman. He trusted Lindsey, but he didn't trust her.
"I think, I'm gonna have one more." Lindsey breathed out heavily, leaning back in his seat.
"I'd say, you've had enough." Mick disagreed. "We should probably get going."
In the last hour, everyone had left, only Mick and Lindsey stayed. Mick didn't see anything wrong in Lindsey wanting to relax and have a bit of fun, but it was getting rather late and Lindsey was definitely going to regret that one last drink he so desperately wanted in the morning.
"I'm going to the boys' rooms. I wouldn't want to have to look for you, when I get back." Mick only half joked.
Lindsey rested his chin on his clenched fist, closing his eyes for a second, waiting. He was probably going to have to shower first, otherwise Stevie wasn't going to let him get into bed with her. He smiled at the thought of her. He felt a hand on his back and turned to look.
His vision slightly distorted, Lindsey thought his mind was playing tricks on him. The blond hair didn't help. "Are you leaving?"
"Seems like it." Lindsey nodded, shielding his mouth as he yawned.
"Come on, I'll take you back to the hotel."
He frowned. "Wha- no." Lindsey shook his head. "I've got to get back to Stevie. She's-"
"It's alright, I'm right here." She helped him up, quickly shifting her gaze towards the bathroom. "The car is waiting."
"But-" Lindsey shut his eyes tightly, allowing to be lead out.
"You've just had one too many." She said, wrapping her arm around his back.
Moments later, Mick returned and he felt his heart stop for a second. He looked around frantically, but Lindsey was nowhere in sight. He gulped, praying to God that Lindsey, in his drunken state, forgot he wasn't alone and was on his way to the hotel.
