Scene 1:
It's a late afternoon, in the middle of November. The sun is almost setting. Right now, Catrina is outside, practising for her upcoming volleyball match. Linda is coaching her. She's been practising for hours now, and her body is asking for a break. She stops throwing the ball around, and tries to go back inside.
Linda: Hey hey hey! Where do you think you're going, young lady?
Catrina: (gasping) Taking... A break.
Linda: Not yet.
Catrina: Why not?
Linda: Do you wanna be a champion? (louder) Do you wanna be a champion?!
Catrina: I'm starting to think I'd rather lose.
Linda: Go back to the wall! Keep practising (blows whistle).
Catrina: Ugh, why did I have to tell you about joining the volleyball team?
[Catrina keeps practising. Eddie shows up]
Eddie: Aren't you being too harsh?
Linda: I'm just trying to turn her into a champion. She's really good, and I don't want her to end up like I did, when I lost to the West Breezy girls.
Eddie: That was years ago.
Linda: I don't think you understand... They're still as unstoppable, as back in the day. They haven't lost a championship, or a match, for that matter, in 20 years! And Catrina is the one that's going to stop them.
Eddie: Look, I get it, this is a "passing of the torch" moment for you, but you're gonna drain her out. She needs to be at 100% for tomorrow.
Linda: She has plenty of time to rest... Besides, shouldn't you be doing the same for Corey?
Eddie: And what am I gonna do? I don't know shit about soccer.
Linda: Oh... Then Corey is on his own. But that doesn't matter. At least one of them is gonna win at West Breezy High tomorrow. Catrina will put an end to the West Breezy streak, and it is all thanks to me. She is my champion!
Eddie: Whatever... Hey, I just realized, this is just like the School Wars.
[What they don't know, is that Sam is watching, and she is not enjoying the fact that her mom is dedicating so much attention to Catrina. Meanwhile, inside, Corey and Stewart were discussing Corey's upcoming soccer match, in the living room]
Corey: For fuck's sake, why did so many players have to get hurt during the last match?
Stewart: It's not on purpose, fuggin. You think Scott is enjoying his dislocated shoulder?
Corey: Obviously not, but whatever... I guess I got what I asked for. My opportunity to join the soccer team, and overthrow Razor.
Stewart: I don't think Razor is gonna be your biggest problem.
Corey: What do you mean?
Stewart: You seriously don't know?
Corey: Know what?
Stewart: Troy is West Breezy's team captain.
Corey: And?
Stewart: And? Have you seen him play? That fucker is just bonkers.
Corey: He can't be that good.
Stewart: Oh really?
[Stewart shows him a video of Troy playing soccer on the phone, where he completely dominates his opponents]
