Kiba:

Ugh.

Me and Aka have NEVER been humiliated like this before.

That puppet guy had us pinned, and will have us pinned literally if we don't surrender.

I have to protect Akamaru!

This is bullshit! Utter-

"Kiba! Don't listen to that jerk!"

Huh?

A familiar timbre echoed through the stadium, reaching unnaturally keen ears as I lifted my head.

Naruto?

But what was he, a human- newbie, I corrected myself, doing here?

But there he was, blue eyes staring down at me, expectant. It registered dully the people he was sat beside.

"Naru...to...?"

My cheeks felt warm. Damn! How embarrassing. I don't want him seeing me like this!

My opponent was sooner to react coherently, snickers of his already sounding, my cheeks ever reddening.

"Got yourself a fan club, huh dog boy?"

God. I hated the look on his face. Akamaru seemed to share my sentiments, a low growl emitting from his throat.

I caught the next thing kankuro said, with strain, "...and a human at that."

But he didn't need to hide his last statement. It was the most obvious thing that had taken place all day.

The school, at least those in it who were aware of Naruto's arrival, had been buzzing with the thought of an outsider attending Konoha High.

It was unheard of, and yet there he was, sitting atop a balcony seat, next to the Principle, with red cheeks to rival my own.

The stadium was almost silent, muffled whispers reaching my ears.

But I would have to question the newbie later. Kankuro seemed now unfazed, staring expectantly down at me. I was all aware of his flexed fingers, strings reflecting the bright lights of the ring.

I sighed, swallowing my pride.

"I surrender."

Kankuro's grin was the ugliest thing I'd ever laid my eyes on.

"So take that ugly grin and ugly muppet and walk your ass back."

Naruto:

Argh! Kiba!! Why'd you have to surrender? But, even when backing down, you managed to spit some fire, alright!

I was going to be worried for my friend, regardless. That, Kankuro, was it...he had this strange affinity for poison puppets and sarcasm.

I guess I don't blame you, Kiba...you only did what was in you and your dog partner's best interests.

...Oh, but now I'll have to explain to him why I'm here!

Wait, wait, that's not it! I need to know why YOU'RE here, alright?! Why were you fighting under the school, why did you have a twin dog fighting familiar, and why did those guys ever stop doing the wave?!
