A/N: Who's your favorite akatsuki member? Mine's either Deidara or Itachi.

History continued for another 30 minutes, during which I pretended to listen and stared more at the boy next to me.

Kurenai sensei's voice brought my attention to the front.

"...which led to the aggression age, in which creatures all fought for power. During those times, if you were too weak, you'd be wiped out."

Kurenai pointed her ruler at the chart projected on the board. The chart was supposed to list different time periods, but they all looked foreign to me.

"And that's why we no longer have certain species." She concluded.

But there was something especially confusing about what sensei said. Aggression age? Creatures fighting for power? I may be dumb, but I don't remember Iruka ever teaching me about that.

I stared at my paper for the rest of class, deciding to just brush it off.

Before I knew it, the bell rang. Chairs shuffled and students began talking to each other.

"Ugh..." I let out a groan as I stretched my arms behind my chair. I then grabbed my backpack, taking another look at the pale boy next to me.

I built up the courage to ask his name.

Taking a deep breath, I went for it. "Hi, my name is Naru-"

"What do you want?" His raspy voice emerged. He looked annoyed.

"Uh..." I stood up straight and scratched the back of my head. He bore his eyes into mine, still sitting down at the desk.

I continued. "My name is Naruto, and I just moved here." I brought my hand down to my side.

Okay, yeah. And??  I asked myself.

"...and?" Eyeliner boy stood with his things. He was taller than me.

"What's your name?" I finished, holding my hand out.

He shifted back ever so slightly, invisible eyebrow raised. "...What?" He uttered.

"Look, I didn't mean what I said earlier. I'm just trying to make some friends here, and we sit beside each other in History." I explained, rambling a bit.

Am I coming off as weird?

"You're weird." The red headed boy stated.

I frowned. "Is that a no?"

He turned away, and let out a brief sigh.

"Gaara."

"What did you say?"

"Gaara."

He started to walk, but before he could I took his hand and shook it.

"Hi Garra! I'm Naruto." A smile spread across my face.

"...You said that already." Gaara said, and yanked his hand from mine. I realized I had been shaking it too long.

"Oh."

Gaara began walking out of the room, and I followed behind him.

"Hey, what class do you have next?" I stuck my head over his shoulder to get a look at his face.

He seemed bothered by something. "Asuma Sensei."

Gaara moved to the side and sped up his pace.

"Asuma? What does he teach?" I questioned, pulling out my schedule.
