It was a little after 9PM. Soyi, slumped on the table of the bar, nursed her drink as she talked on the phone.
"Jongho, can you come to Starlight bar? The one near the cinema." She could almost see the surprised expression on his face.

No, she wasn't drunk. A little tipsy maybe. Why she didn't call Mihee and Younha you asked? She remembered Mihee had a date with Joong. Those two deserve quality time after all the assignments. Younha had an essay to submit and Soyi couldn't bring herself to disturb her. Eventhough she was certain Younha would get in the car in a heartbeat had she asked.

With one more sip of her drink, images of her conversation with Wooyoung just a couple hours ago played in her mind. It felt so vivid, almost like the boy was sitting across from her. The look on his face was not pity, unlike that boy from her past.

"Soyi-ah, I am sorry if I have been somewhat misleading along the way, but I am actually dating someone. I cannot talk about it because we're not supposed to" Wooyoung spoke after a brief moment of silence.

Dumbfounded with the new information, Soyi could only blink as she looked at the boy.
"I have always think of you as a best friend. But I do apologise for not telling you earlier. She had made me promise to not tell anyone" he continued.

Finally back to her senses, Soyi cleared her throat.
"M-mm I am so sorry I make things awkward-"

"Please don't." Wooyoung cut her off "And I should've told you earlier" his voice faded as he noticed the waiter approaching with their order.

Silence preceeded to infiltrate as they ate. A few short questions were thrown to mask the awkwardness threatening to take over.

In the haze of her newly broken hearted state, Soyi managed to hold herself up and finished the "date" without fleeing - which she so badly wanted.

Soyi had rejected Wooyoung's offer to take her home after, lying that she needed to grab something at the supermarket.

Half an hour and a couple drinks later, all the suppressed emotion floated to the surface and she felt tears escaping her eyes. She hid her face in her elbow as she let her emotions took over. 'Just 10 minutes' she thought to herself as one finger traced imaginary lines on the blank screen of her phone.

A tap on her shoulder woke her up from her train of thoughts. She lifted her face and was greeted by the face of her red haired junior who was a little flushed.

"Jongho, you're here" Soyi instinctively wiped the remnants of her tears.

"Noona, why are you drinking alone?" The boy asked as he claimed the seat next to her and gestured for a bottle of water to the bartender.

"Mihee and Younha are busy. I can't ask them" she sulked and reached for her glass again.

Jongho was quick to take it away before she did.
"Noona, you don't need that, you need water. Wait" he opened the bottle and bring it to her lips.

Caught off guard by the younger's gesture, Soyi blinked several times as she drank from the bottle. Jongho then slowly lowered the bottle once he thought she'd had enough.
"Noona, you should go home" he advised to which she chuckled.

"Jongho, I am fine. I had 3 drinks. It's not that bad." deep sigh left her lips.

Barely a split second after, she looked at the boy with sparkling glint in her eyes. "Let's go to karaoke" she breathed.

Smile of amusement curved on Jongho's lips and Soyi would lie to say he did not look adorable.
"Noona, it's too late for that" he said glancing at the watch on his wrist.

"You're no fun. It's not even 10" she retorted.

"Why are you drinking anyway?" this time his tone held the same seriousness his face show.

"I-I- let's just go home" Soyi stood up from her seat and immediately stumbled. The younger, however, was quick to catch her by the arm.
Stuttering, she thanked the boy as she steadied herself.

The walk to the bus stop had never been more challenging for Soyi, but they did make it despite the few stumbles.

On the bus, Jongho had let her take the window seat. He did not ask her much during the ride either which relieved her. Her tipsiness slowly left her, only to be replaced by drowsiness.

The bus stopped at the campus bus stop and they got off.
"Noona, which building are you?" Jongho asked

"Logan Hall. You don't have to walk me there. It's close from here. Is your dorm on the East wing?" Soyi stood facing the boy.

"No. Mine's the Ferrel House" he gestured to the building with exposed red bricks not far from Soyi's own.

They walked toward Soyi's dorm in silence. Jongho slowed his pace to match hers.
"I got rejected today" Soyi's impulsive decision to open up struck the boy by surprise.

"Umm are you okay, noona? You don't have to answer if you don't want" his voice hold so much warmth that Soyi was afraid she would broke down.

Breathing deeply, she looked ahead and tried to avoid his gaze eventhough she could feel his eyes on her.
"I could be better" at least she was honest about it. "I will be fine. Thank you for coming tonight" She said as they approached her dorm.

"It's okay, noona. Make sure to get good rest" he responded, scratching his neck. He waited as she fished her bag for the keys.

"Noona" There was something in his tone that made Soyi look up from her bag.

"If you ever need me anytime, just let me know. I'll be there" his gaze was enigmatic yet mesmerising at the same time. Her brain had failed to register the turn of events taking place after.

She just stood there. Frozen. Except for the rapid blinks of her eyes. Brain on overdrive as it tried to comprehend everything that happened in the last minute.
