An array of emotions took Soyi's feelings to a roller-coaster ride that morning.
As she and Jongho got off their ride back to the dorm, her brain was on overdrive trying to comprehend what happened at the cafe.
"SOYI-AH!" That screaming voice belong to none other than Younha.
Soyi immediately looked at the direction of the voice and saw her two bestfriends walking to her direction.
"You're here. Why didn't you call me?" Soyi didn't remember having a plan for the meet up.
"Yahhh! We were gonna surprise you. But, I guess I am the one who's getting one" Younha nodded toward Jongho who had been standing there.
"Younha..." Mihee elbowed her friend.
"Ahh, Jongho, say hi. These are my friends, Mihee and Younha." Soyi introduced them.
"Nice to meet you, noona. I am Jongho." He bowed slightly to the girls.
"Oh, you're Soyi's mentee!" Mihee remembered the name.
"He is also friend with your brother" Soyi informed Mihee.
After answering a few questions from Younha and Mihee, Jongho took his leave.
"Why are you mentoring on a weekend?" Mihee questioned.
"I wasn't. We just went out for breakfast." Soyi couldn't hold back the pink tinge on her cheeks.
"Song Soyi! I need you to explain." Younha demanded as the three of them walked to Soyi's room.
When they had sat comfortably on the bed, Soyi settled and recounted all the events which had led to the very moment the two met Jongho.
"Wait- did he actually mislead you when he has another girl already?" Mihee asked, referring to Wooyoung's rejection.
Soyi couldn't help but felt the sting of pain as her heart clenched upon the memory from last night. She proceeded to update her bestfriends about Wooyoung's secret relationship.
"Do you think he lied to you?" Younha did not hide her annoyance.
"I don't think so. He must have reason to keep it a secret" Soyi sighed.
"Enough with him. What were you doing with that boy?" Younha propped her on one hand as she shifted on the bed.
"You mean Jongho? We went out for breakfast" Soyi felt warmth crept up to her cheeks.
Mihee, who had been quietly listening, chimed in.
"I saw the look in his eyes. Did I miss something?"
Soyi knew she might have read between the lines. But Mihee had always let her explain herself.
"I called him last night when I was at the bar?" Soyi initiated.
"Yahhhh!! You went drinking? After meeting Wooyoung? Why didn't you call us?" Younha instantly rose from the bed.
"Let her talk, hun" Mihee grabbed Younha's hand and urged her to sit again.
"I knew you had assignment. And Mihee was out with Joong. I thought I needed some time to process what happened" Soyi looked at her bestfriends who were silently listening and gave her the look to proceed.
"I had a couple drinks when he came. I thought he was gonna drink with me but he dragged me home instead" she continued.
"Did you tell him about Wooyoung?" Younha asked in a low voice.
"I told him I got rejected. Umm-" the two girls saw her hesitation yet let her finish her sentence.
"He kissed me." Soyi shifted her gaze to her hands. Rose tint aggressively crept on her cheeks.
Soyi's statement was clearly unexpected to her bestfriends. She took the initiative to explain that the breakfast had been intended to make things clear.
Eventhough, in all honesty, she felt more puzzled despite the many pieces of information her brain seemed to absorb.
"So, Jongho confessed to you?" Mihee tried to clarify.
"Well, he didn't- you know, say the words"
Soyi did not want to make any assumptions. Especially after Wooyoung. Definitely not repeating history, she thought.
"Same difference if you ask me, love. But you've been through a lot. I see why you're having doubts." Younha stated.
"Whaaa, Younha. You're growing up" teased Soyi as she tried to brighten up the mood.
The two girls did not push her more about Wooyoung or Jongho. However, before leaving her dorm later that evening, Mihee had left her something to think about.
"I know you're probably hurt about Wooyoung. But promise me you'll give that kid a fair chance. It's okay if you are not ready. At least, let him be your friend. He look like a good kid" she said as they hugged which ended up inviting Younha to give them her signature tight squeeze.
A/N: Apologies for the late 😭
