It had been a few days since the breakfast with Jongho. They hadn't met since. However, waking up to his good morning texts was a new habit to Soyi.
They would then tell each other their schedule for the day and send well wishes. That morning was no exception.
'Good morning, noona. Did you sleep well? Since you only have one class today, should we hang out?' read the text on Soyi's screen.
She typed her response agreeing to the boy's proposal. She could use a break from the long list of compulsory readings she needed to do for that semester. Jongho responded quickly, confirming he would pick her up after class.
Class ended without much difficulties for Soyi. Tutorial classes were always her favorite since they were able to get more practical with projects and assignments.
When she exited the class, she noticed Jongho standing at the entrance of the building. She rushed her steps towards him.
"Nooona, class ended?" he greeted her with his bright smile.
"Mhmm. I told you we could meet there" she had offered to meet at the cafe but he insisted on coming to get her.
"It's okay, noona. I have nothing to do. Should we go now?" he asked to which she nodded.
The walk to the cafe was not that long. They had filled each other with updates on how they had spent their day. Soyi liked how comforting it was just to talk about little things with him.
Jongho had been nothing but the sweetest. But after her experience with Wooyoung, it was only right that she was careful not to get too caught with feelings.

At the cafe, they had gotten their orders; drinks of their choice and a cake they had decided to share given its decent serving size.
The weather was perfect. The afternoon sky was clear and the calm breeze made it impossible to resist sitting outside.
The two enjoyed their drinks while talking about their passion and dreams. Whether it was the perfect afternoon glow, or the light swept of the breeze, Soyi was elated to be sitting with the younger, right there, at that very moment.
There was a constant nagging in the back of her mind, unfortunately, that needed some closure. No matter how much she tried to ignore it, the thought would creep back into her conscience. Gathering some courage, she chose to just go with it.
"Jongho, there's something I wanna ask" she nursed the edge of her glass.
"Mmm noona, what is it?" the way he looked up from his glass and shifted all his attention to her warmed Soyi's heart.
"Did it ever cross your mind that I might be thinking of you like a rebound?" that question brought bitterness in her and she could not bring herself to look at the boy in the eyes.
A few seconds of silence filled the air around them before she heard him shift on his seat. Soyi then felt the soft touch of his hand against her own.
"Noona, look at me" said the boy in his sweetest voice. "I would never think that low of you" he continued.
She knew he had always been sweet and kind, but hearing those words were such a relief. She could barely form a comprehensible response to that.
"Besides, even if I were a rebound, I would still be the most beautiful rebound that you would forget about being heart broken in the first place" Jongho smiled playfully but his eyes held so much certainty.
Soyi was taken aback. That was obvious; even to the boy himself. Her lips parted as if wanting to say something, but words weren't at her favor. So, she opted to stay quiet. Also feared that she would open the flood gate to her emotions.
He cleared his throat and withdrew his hand as he nervously tried to change the topic. She gave him a subtle smile before proceeding with a lighter topic. Inside, clouds of doubts seemed to have cleared off of her chest.
When the sun almost kissed the line of the horizon with its burning orange glow, the two decided to walk back to their dorm.
"Noona, can I hold your hand?" Jongho asked after a couple minutes into their walk.
Soyi, despite being surprised with the new side of the boy she slowly got to know, found it endearing that he seeked consent.
Therefore, instead of answering, she just slipped her hand into his. Smile curved on both of their faces just like the faint shadow of the crescent moon on the sky.
