The cafe was relatively quiet. Yeosang had texted him to meet there and do their quiz together. Jongho could have sworn he tried his best to focus. However, his mind kept slipping to the thoughts that have been bugging him in these past days.

He must have zoned out again because Yeosang stopped whatever he was doing and stared at him.

"Ehmmm, earth to Jongho." He held back a smile.

Embarrassed that his friend caught him red handed, Jongho coughed shyly.

"Is everything okay?" Jongho could hear the concern in Yeosang's voice.

"Y-yeah. Yeah. Everything is good" nervousness was apparent on his voice and he knew that look in Yeosang's eyes. He wanted to hear more.

A deep breath later, he made up his mind.
"Something has been bugging me" Jongho explained. When Yeosang gave him a look telling him he's listening, he continued.

"I was gonna ask someone to go on a date with me"

"Wait- Choi has a girl? Who is it? From our class?" Yeosang interrupted.

Jongho panicked a little when some people nearby overheard them and was looking at their direction.

"Yahh, keep it low!" He whisper-yelled at Yeosang who chose to ignore his request.

"Oh, don't give me that. Come, spill! Who is it?" Yeosang was too excited to care about the stares they were getting.

"Umm. Actually, you know her" Jongho saw no point in hiding.
"Who? Lee Yuri? I saw you two at the canteen once"

"No, it's Soyi noona" Jongho's answer seems to render the other speechless.

"Whoah- Choi." He could barely form a recognizable sentence.

For a moment, Jongho was worried his friend must have had some judgements about his feelings. The other was quick to read his face.

"I was just surprised, Jjongie. So, what happened?" Yeosang asked.

"Last week, I saw her and her friends having lunch at steps near the North garden. I was going to greet them but when I get closer, I overheard them talking about Soyi noona asking a Wooyoung guy to go out. I am sure it was a date."

Jongho felt relief in a way. He had kept it to himself so far. But Yeosang didn't seem to judge.

"I am not close to Soyi noona. So I don't really know about that. Have you met her since?"

"I hadn't. I did talk to her on the phone" Jongho's finger was tracing imaginary shapes on the desk as he spoke.

Jongho eventually opened up about having doubts. He liked Soyi. Very much, and no doubts there. However, it seemed like she had found someone else. As much as it pained him that she would be with another guy, Jongho remembered how happy she was when she talked about him.

"Ahh, I see. Are you thinking of giving up?" Yeosang finally spoke after listening to the whole story.

"To be honest, I don't know. I think she's happy with that guy."

Jongho couldn't find it in him to burden Soyi with his feelings if she's already happy with the guy she likes.

"Do you think they are dating now?" Yeosang hesitated with his question.

"Well, I couldn't have known" he answered honestly.

A short pause later, Yeosang offered to ask his noona about Soyi, to which Jongho refused. He wanted to take sometime to think about what to do. However, deep down he knew he had to decide soon. His 30 days mentoring program is ending in a few days.

Once able to focus, the two boys worked on the quiz which turned out to be quite manageable. They then left the cafe not long after. Jongho glanced at the time on his phone and realised he had spent almost 3 hours at the cafe.

Just as he entered the gate to the dorm, his phone rang and Soyi's name was on display. It rang for a few more seconds before he picked it up.

"Yeah, noona. Do you-" the other side had cut him off before finishing his line.

His thoughts were all over the place hearing her voice. Putting his keys back into his pocket, he turned around and head to the bus stop.

"Yes, noona. I know that one. I am on my way. Give me 15 minutes"

He rushed his steps as he saw a bus coming. Despite the continued worry he had to meet Soyi who was probably someone else's girlfriend by then, he couldn't lie that he was a little giddy to meet her again.
