Dream looked at the scene around him, the armies fighting in the distance, Gaster struggling with the snakes, and Nightmare staring at the two. Dream moved the creator's head into his lap. Something just felt different about Ink. Dream looked back down at Ink, the creator's eyes staring up at Dream. The creator felt comfortable by Dream. Nightmare landed right in front of the two and shifted back into his normal form. Nightmare couldn't identify what he was feeling..but he could sense some sort of change within the creator. He still hated Ink..just something felt different. Nightmare, about the size of a toddler, placed his hand on the creator's charred shoulder. Almost instantly Ink whined in pain moving away from Nightmare's touch. Unlike Dream's goop, the goop Nightmare left stung as a piece stayed on his brunt shoulder.
Ink wrapped his arms around Dream's abdomen as he quietly yet repeatedly asked Dream to take the goop off. The guardian stared down at Ink for a few seconds letting him suffer just a bit more before he removed the goop. Ink just laid there crying into Dream's lap. The guardian could help but feel guilty. He didn't see the person at fault for his brother's death. He saw an old friend in need of help. Nightmare looked over at the still struggling Gaster. While he had been struggling, five red vials had fallen out of his pocket along with the two empty ones he had already forced Ink to take. Nightmare soon realized what had been happening this entire time. He looked back over at the creator who was still crying. He felt somewhat guilty.
Error watched the events unfold from the window. The vials on the path caught his eye as he had the snakes drag the Gaster away. It was a simple case of manipulation. Despite what everyone in the multiverse seemed to think, Error was a person. He wasn't insane. He felt...pity towards his enemy. He never truly liked causing pain to others. It was just something that had to be done. He could never muster the courage to kill off Ink. his soul always told him not to. With a sigh Error turned away from the window and began to head outside towards the scene. The Gaster had already been dragged off into a bush where the snake would continue suffocating them until they dusted. He passed by the infirmary that had been left empty since Dust had passed. Dust was the medic and scientist of the team. Error would sometimes help him out. The destroyer stopped and stared at the door, he could feel a tug on his soul. He sighed once more mumbling a curse before going inside the infirmary. The infirmary definitely wasn't large, only big enough for about 15 patents. It didn't truly matter though. Not many people lived in the mansion and they had everything they needed there already. Simple medicines and machines, a magic enhancer, and a single bed in its own room meant for extreme injuries. There was a storage room right beside the door to the high-care room. It had most of what a doctor would need. Anything else would be down at the nearby hospital that provided medical care to the town. The other 15 beds were all in the same room but were separated by sound repelling curtains to give patients privacy.
Error entered the high care room and began to prepare it for a patent. He removed the old sheets that hadn't been changed in a while. He replaced the sheets and all the bedding with a special set specifically meant for patients with full body wounds. The sheets, blankets, and pillows were all infused with a numbing agent to prevent pain from the friction of the sheets. Error had the bed ready in only a few minutes. He was used to getting this room prepared quickly since him and Dust would occasionally be given practice drills. Nightmare always wanted that room ready in the case of an emergency. The bed had only been filled twice, both times by Killer. Error backed away from the bed and went over to a nearby counter and began taking out different types of medicines. He prepared a hospital gown infused with the same material as the bedding. The room had been prepared completely and was ready for a patient. Error left the room and continued his path out of the mansion.
Error walked out of the mansion and over towards the Dream and Ink. Once there, the destroyer kneeled down and tried to pick up the creator. Dream pulled Ink away from Error. He had a strange urge to just..protect him. Right then, Blue had found the group and walked over. He was a bit confused to see Dream kneeling down on the floor with Ink in his arms. Blue looked at Dream as if he was insane. Dream noticed and simply said "he was being manipulated..." Blue soon understood when he saw the vials on the ground. Nightmare still stood there. Looked over at the burnt covered creator and back at the vials. Dream simply kept moving Ink away from Error. The destroyer was trying to assure Dream he wouldn't hurt the creator anymore than he already was. Nightmare watched the two before looking at his brother. "Pick me up Dream!" he demanded, making himself slightly smaller so it would be easier. Dream took one of his hands off of Ink and lifted Nightmare to his shoulder. Nightmare was easily able to talk to Ink from that angle. He still was somewhat scared of the creator since he was still very small in size. "Ink. if you fix the machine that you broke once your healed..we will help you". Ink looked at Nightmare, his eyes full of regret as tears stung his cheeks. He slowly nodded agreeing to the terms. He mostly just wanted to be with Dream and Blue. he still viewed them as friends..even if they hated him. Nightmare looked over at Dream, his expression stern and very serious. "Dream..he gets one last chance..however if he hurts any of us, he's dead." Dream nodded agreeing with his brother. He knew Ink couldn't be trusted completely so it seemed reasonable.
Ignoring Error trying to grab Ink, Dream got a better grasp on the creator and got to his feet. Error was a bit aggravated but understood. The destroyer told Dream to follow him, Dream immediately listening. They took Ink inside the mansion and to the infirmary. Blue followed the group close behind as Nightmare rode on his brother's shoulder. The infirmary wasn't far from the entrance so it only took a few minutes of walking for the group to get there. Ink watched as he was carried through the mansion. He admired the mansion's beautiful design. They passed the throne room on their way. It was by far the most beautiful room of the mansion. Ink shifted in Dream's arms trying to look at the decorations through the tears. Dream smiled down at the creator and paused allowing Ink to take in the design of the room. After about a minute Dream left the room with the creator still in his arms. Soon they got to their destination. Dream was led into the room where Ink would stay. Ink certainly didn't like the idea of laying in a bed surrounded by mostly white. Blue realized there was a heavy lack of color in the room and went to grab a few things that would make Ink more comfortable. Dream placed Ink in the open bed gently resting his head on the pillow. Ink was expecting the sheets to hurt the burns in some way. Error came over to the other side of the bed and started removing the burnt on fabric. He was being as gentle as possible yet the fabric being removed peeled off some of the burnt bone around it causing wounds to open. The wounds were immediately treated with an antibacterial that thankfully didn't sting. There wasn't much of Ink's outfit left on his body. Error soon got the remaining fabric off of the creator leaving Ink nude. Ink was expecting something like that and was grateful when Error covered him with the hospital gown. Dream gently lifted Ink's head allowing Error to tie the string loosely around his neck. The two repeated the process, very loosely tying the string around his lower spine.
Blue came into the room a few minutes later. He had gotten a few objects to brighten up the room so Ink wouldn't be as uncomfortable. Dream and Error helped Blue decorate the room hanging a few banners and overall just making the room seem more home like. Nightmare stood on a counter right beside the bed Ink was lying in. He stared at the creator who was watching the group decorate.
He would give Ink just one chance.
