Mully Pov
I can't help but notice that Josh is wearing gloves. He reaches his hand out to take mine. He brings me back to his house. His mom is awake and waves at us. Josh takes off his jacket and gloves. He stuffs his hands in his pockets right away though. My hands are cold so I keep my gloves on. We go to his room. I haven't been in here for a while. We've all been busy with school and other shit and we haven't had much time to hang out. It looks different. There's lots of pictures surrounding his walls. Pictures of us. Pictures of him and the rest of our friends. Ayden, Grant, Eddie, and Gaege. There's the last group picture that we took. We all looked so happy. It was before Eddie and Gaege grew distant. Before Gaege and Eddie got their black fingernails. Times were much happier back then. Josh notices me looking at the photos.
"That day seemed so long ago," Josh says.
"Yeah, but at the same time it feels like it was just yesterday," I say.
"I wonder if they'll come back," Josh says.
"I don't think so," I say. "Their fight was pretty bad."
"I hope we never do that," Josh says.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"The rest of our friend group is already f*cked up. We don't need to break it any more," Josh says.
"I don't think that could ever happen," I say.
"I'm sure that's exactly what Eddie and Gaege said. They were friends the longest. They were so close and then with the snap of a finger, they weren't," Josh says. Josh takes one of his hands out of his pocket and runs a hand through his hair. I see a flash of color but don't think anything of it. I look back the pictures. There's one of me and Josh. It was taken that day we went to the arcade for his birthday. He was so happy even though he didn't get his fingernail. There was a slight blush across his cheeks in the picture. I had just pulled down his beanie over his eyes and he was pushing it back up when someone had taken the picture. He was looking at me slightly and laughing. I look over and see Josh also staring at the photo. "That's my favorite photo of us."
"Do you have a copy?" I ask.
"Yeah, sure. Let me find it," Josh says. He turns and starts rummaging through his closet. "Found it." He hands it to me. It has a few creases in it. I flatten it out a little bit. Josh lets his hands hang to side, not knowing what to do.
"Thank you, I really like this photo as well. Grant took it didn't he?" I ask.
"I think so," Josh says. My eyes flick down to his hand. Bright blue nailpolish on his ring finger. Why does that feel so similar? I absentmindedly rub my fingers through my glove. Wait, isn't that my color? Wait, when did he get a color?
"Josh, your fingernail," I say. He glances down at it.
"Oh, yeah. That thing," he laughs.
Cliffhanger because I need to eat dinner. Next part will hopefully be up tomorrow night. Luv you all! More to come!!!!!!
