I was busy trying to finish a final assignment that was due close to midnight on that day. It was frustrating and really grating on my anxiety because all day, there were reports on the radio of even more volcanic activity. I spent most of the day, just doing that. However, the announcement was made that the volcano will become explosive, and the call was made to evacuate the residents living north, closest to the volcano. My family lives in the Georgetown area.... so this definitely applied to us. Within a short space of time, provisions were made, and my father's jeep was packed for us to just roll out. I held Tiki, my sister held Cheesecake and my mother held Pecan in front of my mother in the jeep.
On our way out, we realized that our neighbours were still waiting by the road for public transport, therefore my family made arrangement to give them a ride to go down. As we arrived in Georgetown, we can see lots and lots of people waiting at the side of the road with their bags packed, waiting for public transport to take them to the shelters. It was an unsettling sight. It really seemed like something serious was about to happen. There was serious traffic heading out of Georgetown. Vehicles lined up bumper to bumper going out. Especially a congregation at the gas station heading out.
Eventually, we made it to Cedars at the Assembly building. We took all of our stuff out of the jeep and let our pets run around the yard. My mother made chow mien for lunch and had brought the rest of the food in a bowl. We were really happy about it because we were really hungry by the time we got there. We each used a fork to eat out of the same bowl.
Our family used some airbeds to sleep in the meeting hall for tonight. We will see if the volcano really erupts.
