A/N: small but necessary spoiler- for the rest of the story, if its in italics it means Loki and the reader are talking in their minds.

I hope people are actually reading this! I'm very excited about this and have the first seven chapters written in full. I will continue to post everyday :)

You woke up the next morning to find that yesterday's headache was still there. You didn't even bother to change out of your pajamas as you stumbled out of your room to go find some aspirin.

When you opened your bedroom door, your breath hitched as you took in the sight in front of you. Loki stood outside his door and still looked half asleep. He had messy hair, and was still in his pajamas too.

"Good morning", he said in his raspy morning voice. God, why did he have to be so sexy. No, you shouldn't be thinking about him like this, you barely knew him.

"Good morning", you replied, clearing your throat. You and Loki made your way into the kitchen and he poured coffee while you dug around for some aspirin. Tony and Natasha were in the living area too, talking.

When you finally found aspirin you leaned against the counter next to Loki. You looked at him while he poured coffee.

"You don't strike me as a big coffee drinker", you said playfully.

"I'm not, but ever since I've been a full time resident of midgard I've developed a taste for it", he replied, "but only bl-"

"Black?" you cut him off.

He looked at you and then down at his now full coffee mug, "yes, how did you know?" he asked, smirking.

You smirked back at him before getting distracted by Tony walking over to you.

"Uh oh", he said looking at you and then at Loki.

"What?" you asked, genuinely confused by his comment.

"Nothing", Tony said quickly before changing the subject "Listen kid, I've been talking with Nat and we both think that you could do with some combat training".

You were shocked by this but also very excited. You had always wanted to learn how to fight and defend yourself. You looked up at Loki and he gave you an encouraging look.

Tony took a step closer to you and put his hand on your shoulder

"Listen, I don't want to get your hopes up but I can see you becoming a part of the team"

"Tony I-", you started, but were honestly speechless and didn't know how to react.

"Hey, no pressure. We don't need to decide anytime soon but I just thought I'd put it out there".

You couldn't help the smile growing on your face.

"I would love that more than anything"

...

You had spent the last week splitting your time between training with Nat and Loki. You and Nat had grown close over the last week and were getting along really well. She was actually really fun and you felt good about having her as a friend.

You and Loki had also grown closer over the week and even though you wouldn't go as far as to call him your friend, he seemed to enjoy your company, which is more than you could say for the rest of the team. You didn't want to read too much into it, but you felt like one of the only people who could make him genuinely laugh, even if it was usually at your own expense. Loki was still closed off, but you didn't take it personally, he didn't let anyone in.

By the time Friday rolled around, you were exhausted from your week of training. You made your way to the living area and slumped down on the couch next to Loki but he didn't seem to notice. He was staring out the window, with his brow furrowed and a focused look on his face. His jaw was clenched and he looked like he was deep in thought.

"Hey", you said, trying to get his attention. He didn't look like he had heard you.

"Hey", you said again, louder this time.

This got his attention and he turned to look at you. His jaw unclenched, and his face relaxed when he saw you. You thought you saw a small smile tug at his mouth but whatever you saw quickly vanished when he heard the rest of the team coming in.

"Hey kid, I ordered pizza, do you want any?" Tony asked as he walked in, followed by the rest of the team.

"Yes, I'm starving", you said overdramatically.

You went into the kitchen and grabbed a slice of pizza from one of the many, many, boxes. Apparently the Avengers could eat their weight in pizza. Before heading back, you caught Loki's eye and pointed at the box, giving him a look to ask if he wanted any. He just shook his head softly and turned back towards the window.

Something was definitely up with him but you didn't want to pry.

The rest of the team squished together on the couches and you all had a debate about what movie to watch until you all finally settled on Back to The Future.

"It's a classic!" Tony had shouted over everyone, "and I know some people here haven't seen it". He gave Steve, Bucky, and Thor the side eye while he said this.

By the end of the movie, Steve and Thor had fallen asleep which earned them an eye roll from Tony.

Bucky had sat next to you and he gave you a smile and a shoulder squeeze as he got up to go to bed. Nat and Clint were next to go, followed by Bruce. Tony kicked Steve and Thor in the leg to wake them up as he left. Thor shot up, startled, and he and Steve walked sleepily to bed.

Soon it was just you and Loki left. You wanted to ask him what was on his mind but didn't want to overstep. You were staring out the window at the city when the brain tickle returned. It was an odd feeling, like an itch you couldn't scratch. You reached up to rub your head and saw Loki looking at you.

"What are you doing... are you..." you trailed off when he looked away and the tickle in your brain stopped.

"Has that been you this whole time?"

"Has what been me?" he asked defensively.

"I've been getting this weird feeling in my brain, like a tickle, it's not necessarily a bad feeling, just odd"

He looked at you with realization.

"I've been trying to read your mind. I can read everyone's but yours"

Your eyes widened as he said this.

"It must be because of your magic, it's blocking me somehow. Which leads me to believe you are a telepath too"

He scooted closer to you and rested his arm on the back of the couch.

"I'm going to try to get into your mind and when you feel the tickle, focus on it and try to open your mind to me"

You were a little taken aback, sure you'd gotten closer, but that didn't mean you wanted him in your head. You bit your lip nervously, he saw this and rolled his eyes.

"I'm not going to see your thoughts, I just want to try something"

You trusted him. You closed your eyes and after a second you felt the tickle again. This time instead of trying to ignore it, you really focused on it. You tried to imagine it and really tried to open your mind to Loki.

"Y/N?" your eyes shot open in disbelief. You looked at Loki and a smile crept onto your face.

"Did it work?" he asked.

You couldn't believe it, Loki had spoken to you in your mind.
